Having lived in the Middle East and next to the Al Fakher factory for a while, good shisha was not hard to find. Al Majlis was on par with the quality and smoothness. The place did have a bit of an identity issue as the name didn't fit the Alice in Wonderland theme but I loved it nonetheless. Cannot comment... More

We sat outside and there were cats jumping around everywhere. The waiters were not that polite to talk with and the pizza we ordered for 300bht was very small and not the good.

Way to expensive for what it is. The interior decoration looks as if it stayed outside for too long. The prices are ridiculous for what you get. This place has nothing interesting.

We made a booking expecting to find fabulous Moroccan decor as featured on the website but the reality was a shell of what it might once have been. Tired furnishings and sweat box ply wood cubicles. The evocative sound track on the website was replaced with blaring Kenny G and 80's Rod Stewart. The space had no mood or atmosphere.... More

Just to let people know, the Ekamai soi 12 location is now closed. I spent some time trying to find it last week, only to learn from a nearby shop owner, that it's moved.

I have been here 4 times, twice in the old location and twice in the new one. The old location was great, the drink selection wasn't huge, but the drinks were good. The shisha was the best I have ever had and the food was good too. I have been disappointed with the new location, the first time I went... More

This is a beautiful mansion, now converted to Restaurant bar. The food is nothing special, but the outside seating and the shisha is nice. Alcohol quite expensive, but a quiet word and a tip will get you decent corkage fees, so you can bring your own. Do print out a map, as the place is not easy to find.

Al Majlis is located in a lovely big old house with a wonderful atmosphere. For me, the food was ok but the main feature was the setting.

This place is hard to find. Once you get there it looks great. Its like a big mansion with seating all around the beautiful courtyard. Its all bad news from this point on. The food is average, the pricing expensive, the service is terrible and the shishah is absolutely terrible. No wonder they have no website. The amount of work... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
