My husband and I were passing the restaurant set on one of the back streets of Bangkok. I am so glad we stumbled across it as I found a lot of the food in the main strips had been poor and even inedible. At joys we had authentic home cooked food and it was delicious!!!! Many thanks to them and... More

The food was really tasty, I loved the green papaya salad. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very helpful.

Food was good and affordable. Perhaps a little on the salty side, but not too much that it wasn't still enjoyable. Went with my wife and got everything "medium spicy" after saying we can handle spicy. Although we're very used to spicy food, that was just right. Would definitely return.

After experiencing the busy strip on Khao San road, it was nice to find a small, quaint, quiet place for dinner. The food is tasty and good value. We were one of two couples in the restaurant so service was no problem.

- foods are ok, not super tasty but not too bad, so so - more like a bar - the decoration is good but the room seemed quite small

The setting caught my eye, just off the beaten path but close enough to the action this beautiful quirky home from home venue looked too good not to try. The food was the best I'd eaten so far and the cosy setting was a good break from the rowdy party streets nearby. 4 years later I went again last night... More

We popped in here again, maybe our 3rd visit in the past 5 years, food was still good, same decor, service was ok, not as charming as last time, but food was good, pricing is still good.

Joy luck club is a lovely small restaurant with good food. They serve a lot of vegetarian dishes but also chicken and porc. I can certainly recommend this restaurant. The lady chef is very friendly and she speaks English very well.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
