We wanted to order a crab dish for the 9 of us but the price proved too exorbitant So we settled for suckling piglet, fried rice with crab meat, big river prawn tanghoon, claypot fishmaw, whole coconut, pea sprouts with fish slices, crispy fried prawn rolls, dessert dough sweet sticks. Overall, a satisfying and pleasant meal. Not exactly cheap, but... More

I went to Tang Jai Yoo for dinner on 3 Nov 2016 and I must it is one of the better Chinese restaurant in Thailand. The roasted suckling pig that I ordered has such nice crispy skin and me and my 5 dining companion simply couldn't get enough of it! After we had eaten the skin, the waiter will bring... More

Apparently an established local Chinese restaurant catering for the local, not so touristy. We ordered Roast suckling pig, Fish maw soup, Oyster omelette, vegetables. Suckling pig was amazing- The skin was crispy. We enojoyed the food! However on the expensive side. There is also No itemise bill-only one lump sum amount.

Nice Chinese-Thai restaurant in Bangkok's Chinatown. Saw it on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and knew it had to be the first stop when we got off the plane. The suckling pig is a bit expensive at 800 baht but it is delicious. You can see them being twirled on skewers over flames down a side alley next to the... More

Recommended dish is the claypot goose web and the teochew raw fish. The sauce with the raw fish is excellent. The other dishes are ok but on the expensive side.

We went there for 4th of July lunch And after driving around for an hour finally we found the place. We had to book it the night before and they are asking for Cash only ??!! The suckling Pig was great but not smoked which was a bit disappointing to us but other than that after we eat the skin... More

It's a long established local Chinese restaurant catering for the local. Other than the pig we ordered Raw fresh water fish with condiment, steamed small fresh water Shrimp (Chee-Hae), Thai oyster in Omelette, Steamed Crab Craw, end up withGoose-web with Bah Mee (noodles). Not normal Menu for someone who is not familiar with their famous dishes. If not sure, best... More

I asked for a recommendation from the staff and I was brought sweet and sour pork which was worse than the quality found in most English takeaways.. Additionally I had crispy shrimp balls which were inconsistently warmed through. The restaurant itself left a lot to be desired in decor and atmosphere, but the worst part was the price: 460B and... Even a few tuk tuk drivers don't know where it is. Finally made it there after making call the ask for direction by passing the called to the driver. Foods were average except the suckling pig.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
