The food was decent enough but extremely expensive, for example, we paid 150 baht for mango with sticky rice which normally costs 50 baht. When we called for the bill, we heard the lady boss tell the waiter we are from Singapore, which gave us...a bad feeling and made us suspect we were going to be charged more. Indeed the bill shocked us. We wanted to complain but we were with a Thai friend and didn't want to create a scene, so we just paid up with a vow never to return. The cooked food was decent but somewhat cold (as it had already been cooked and was sitting in the trays). The mango with sticky rice, to be fair, was the best we had tasted in Thailand. If you must eat here, we suggest you order freshly cooked food like pad thai and ask how much each dish costs BEFORE ordering to avoid being ripped off!More

Authentic Thai food in a lovely oasis from the crush of the weekend markets. Take suggestions from the owners and their friends and you can't go wrong. Tucked away in a corner of the markets we recommend finishing with their amazing organic coconut rice with...fresh mango no matter how full you feel from your fabulous lunch! Great day out.More

Great thai restaurants in JJ market. Come and taste the real thai food at Prik Yuak Restaurants, it is so authentic! Although there is limited selection of food to choose and a bit pricey.

Nice tiny place with very good Thai food. Small and quiet, a good place to have a lunch break after the crowded market shopping morning.

It has been a while since I had that ripped off feeling in Bangkok. The food was good, we had two small bowls of rice with two hormok (fish custard) and a small serving of red pork curry. The pork curry was flavorful, but the...hormok was underwhelming. That costed us 350 baht, 3-4 times what I can get anywhere else.More

One of the best local Thai food that i ever tasted. Khun Dararad and her chefs cook authentic Thai dishes, especially the hard-to-find traditional "Sao Nam" dish which is a long-found dish that is the best i ever tasted, even so agreed by my Thai...friends.. This well-known Thai eatery is located right next to the exit of Kampaengphet Station leading to Chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok. Highly recommended if one crave for authentic Thai dishes at a traditional thai setting cafe... Reasonable prices and dishes varies depending on fresh ingredients available on that day..More

Have you ever felt like you've been to some places so many times but still there are hidden gems needed to be discovered. And when it comes to this new found Thai food stall / restaurant 'Prik-Yuak" in Jatujak weekend market, the word hidden gems...is not overstated at all. Prik-Yuak has been standing proud in JJ market, selling delicious and decent Thai food or 'Kao-Kang' for more than 20 years. Having said that, we still don't understand how come we missed this good spot for ages since JJ is our regular stomping ground for about the same period as this shop too! Well, need no more moaning and get back to eating, shall we? When it comes to talk about the food at Prik-Yuak the terms simple, well seasoned with no MSG and being beautifully shown the tastes of fresh ingredients describe it all. Some menus here are spicy, of course it's Thai food after all, while a few dishes are mild or sweet taste dominated. It's the art of paring or grouping these two kinds of dishes to form your perfect meal. Our recommends are Kanom-Jeen Nam-Ya or rice noodle with fish curry which its fragrance of curry paste, round taste but not fishy won over our hearts times after times. This one-dish is great if you come alone but if you plan to visit Prik-Yuak with your mates, don't miss Pu-Ped (Spicy yellow chillies crab meat), Pla-Salid-Whan (Sweet Gourami fish meat), Yum-Dok-Kae (Spicy Agasta flower salad), Hor-Mok Pla (Steamed fish with curry paste) and Pu-Ja (Deep-fried crab meat and minced pork in crab shell). Team up with Kao-Glong or Brown rice and some chilled herbal drink and you will be smiling :) In fact the food here are all great and you will have a hard time in a good way deciding which ones should you order and most likely end up ordering too much! Yes we experienced that all the times.More

I've been to thailand a couple of times and each time I visit Bangkok, Prik Yuak is the one place I MUST visit. Its the most authentic thai place one can visit, from the servers in thai clothing, thai styled dishes, cooked in authentic fresh...thai curry (emphasis on fresh!). For those who want to "try" Southern style thai food, visit this place for sure. Ordering food is a piece of cake too since they've got everything on display.More
