We went people on Monday. No reservations but there was around seats available in the main room with the two display tables. The Good: Service was good and attentive. Place is nice, and food Display make it exciting. The Bad: No price on most items. I guess they work a lot with businessmen paying with company cards... Second problem: the... More

The first Robatayaki restaurant I experienced was in Tokyo, and it was also a memorable meal. But Karatama, did not disappoint in any way either. They have 2 serving stations, and the wagyu, fish, asparagus, chillies, sake....were absolutely delicious. The chef, the staff, the ambience, the guests all added to a very enjoyable evening. A trifle expensive.....but still worth it... More

Visited this hidden restaurant twice in 2015. Nice Ambience and interesting Japanese setting, very good service from attentive staff and chefs. Prices are actually printed on the menu but the font used is very small at the side of each photo so very easy to miss. Food quality is good but for the price you pay in Bangkok I consider... More

The food at this place was superb, the air-flown vegetables were amazing, the tomatoes from Japan were exquisite, the beef was a dream - melting in my mouth, Kinki fish was small but flesh was beautiful, king crab legs, plus amazing sashimi dishes were fresh and juicy. The sake was plentiful and served very cold - 57,000 baht for 4... More

Stumbled upon this place by chance and decided to check it out. we had booked, but turned out that was not needed. The basic set up is that you pick out some of the food that is laid out beautifully in front of you and the chef prepares it before your eyes. There is plenty of choice: fish, chicken, pork,... I was looking for a Teppanyaki experience for some visitors.. and thought I would try this. I think the prices are far too high for Bangkok and the food selection is too limited. And sadly, the "show" of the cooking and serving was disappointing. I will not go again, nor would I recommend.. If money is no object, there are... More

If you enjoy noise and ordering food without price tags, this place is for you. Menus are printed in difficult-to-read Japanese and do not include price. Staff recommends items, and if you ask price, you are told, "by the weight" or "market price." Crowd seems mostly Thai who apparently think it a privilege to overpay. We had a small fish... More

Sunday evening ,our last evening in BANGKOK , before flying out. It was a very disappointing evening. Prices where extremely high .(For example 2 green asparagus 100 Baht each 2 green salads 280 Baht each.) No more visitors than the two off us ,what is understandable Notthing wrong with the quality off the food and the service . Never again......".

Neighbourhood Profile
Thong Lor & Ekamai
Known as Bangkok’s hippest neighbourhood, Thong Lor and Ekamai is where the city's well-dressed and well-heeled spend their nights sipping cocktails in hidden speakeasies and posh restaurants. Live it up in one of Thong Lor's extravagant clubs and be prepared to brush shoulders with a Thai celebrity or two. While great for a night out, the area is nothing short of interesting during the daytime, either. Expect a mix of savvy coffee shops, pop-up bars and loads of vintage stores, brought to you by hip locals with eyes for design.
