We were staying in Shanghai Mansion and had dinners included as part of our room rate. We loved it! They were very accomodating when we had to delay our reservation due to hold ups at the airport. Service was superb - a special mention to Ruby who looked after us and made our night both times! The food was tasty... More

The Red Rose is a lovely laid back western bar set amidst the caos of China Town. We had a couple of glasses of strong rice whiskey and enjoyed them very much. In general, Red Rose is slightly pricey for the area but the décor is lovely and it was like an oasis after hours walking under Bangkok's blistering sun.

A very nice restaurant in Chinatown. Although I am not a big fan of duck, the one they prepared it was amazing.

After waiting nearly an hour for our meal it eventually arrived and was stone cold. Cold pork belly is not a nice experience! The waitress was very apologetic about the wait and the cold food but by this point I had had enough and just wanted to leave. Even though we are staying in the hotel we will not be... More

Visited the Red Rose restaurant many times over the years, however due to relocation in the hotel, Fine Dining seems to have gone towards casual dining. Its still worth a visit as the food is good, however the jazz band is not the original trio band, only one remaining. The sparkle is not the same since the hotel was taken... More

If you like the pandemonium of Bangkok's Chinatown all you need do is step off the open air front porch of The Red Rose. Inside however you can enjoy an excellent moderately priced Chinese menu while listening to Jazz and watching the melee work back and forth just outside the resturant. All quite entertaining and tasty. Recommended.

This is a nice place in a nice hotel. The problem is that this is next door to some fabulous and cheap eateries in China Town. Prices here are high in comparison.

We popped in here for a couple of beers before dinner and ended up consuming two pitchers of Chang. The place had a nice chilled out vibe but I thought the bottled beer a bit on the pricey side, hence the pitchers.

We needed a place of refuge from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Trip Advisor gave this place high marks. They had steered us into the right direction. T.A. Said to try the crispy duck. Oh.....my...god!!!! I am not a fan of duck but when the waitress brought a full Peking Duck and cutoff squares of crispy duck skins and... More

The musician was singing but the accompaniment was virtually all prerecorded. Playing a clarinet to a sax solo was so far from cool!!!! Call me old fashioned but surely you could find someone who could play and sing! The service was poor.....No smiles...going through the motions...The starter was fine...centre of chinatown ....spring rolls. The menu couldn't be adjusted slightly to... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
