My wife and I try to make it a point to have a Crab at Somboon whenever we are in Bangkok, which is almost annual pilgrimage for us : ). Their food standard continues to be excellent. Enjoyed our meal thoroughly

Delicious crabs and grilled sea bass. Food was great service was excellent. Value for money. Too bad we only had 1 stomach, if not we'd have ordered more food!

LOCATION 5/5 In 5th floor corner of one of Bangkok’s swankiest shopping center - Central Embassy. Roughly equidistant from Chid Lom or Ploenchit stations, on the tourist belt AMBIENCE 3.5/5 Fairly new decor, not different from the setting in any bustling Chinese restaurant. Lots of...tourists and Thai families dining there. Not great in a business setting FOOD 4/5 It’s more Thai Chinese food than Thai food per day. - Curry crab is their speciality. It’s good enough but a bit pricey and marginally overrated. We also had - River prawns with mung bean glass noodles. The prawns were so-so fresh but the dish was tasty - Braised Sea cucumber. I like mine a bit more tender but again this was quite tasty - A stir fry dish. Very innovative mixture of gingko nuts, red dates, cashews, plus the usual vegetables. This is a must try - Braised pork in brown sauce. Tender, but ordinary - Grilled river prawns. The prawns were very fresh and the spicy dip really brought out the flavor - Tom Yong Goong. Not too much tamarind (which is my personal preference) with prawns boiled in good soup stock. SERVICE 3/5 Polite but hard to get their attention. VALUE 4/5 For six persons (the above items plus the usual fresh juices), the price came up to THB 5100 (tax/service charge included). It’s about right. It neither cheap or expensive. If it leans towards the more expensive side, I think it’s due to the strong THB. SUMMARY 4/5 I would go there again.More

Somboon is an institution in Bangkok and this new upscale venue in Central Embassy is certainly worth a visit. But do book as it has become very popular with tourists.

Located in the 5th Floor of Central Embassy, and just next to Phloen Chit BTS! They provided different size of portion fir you to order! Food was great, specially on river prawn and deep fried prawn ball. Suggest to do the reservation before you go.

Today (Sat. Oct. 5th) we headed for a leusure day at Central Embassy. After debating between one HK style restaurant or Thai/Chinese restaurant we decided to go for Somboon Seafood which we used to patronize since their 1st shop at Samyarn then Jamjuree Square and...Surawong. All these 3 branches never fail us - good taste and service. We ordered their must have curry crab (whole), steamed seabass in lime sauce, fried oysters, pickled raw crab w/crab eggs. We were disappointed, the cooks threw abundant sugar into these savory dishes. We have no idea why Somboon management could serve these dishes while they have a good name to keep and also Michelline guide. Surprisingly the place is full of tourists. Competition in restaurant business is very keen these days and owner should be happy to welcome regular clients by upkeep your standard.More

Somboon Seafood restaurant in Central Embassy Mall is exceptionally furnished and offers delicious sumptuous and scrumptious fresh seafood at a steal. One of their featured dishes is unshelled crabs cooked in rye whipped curry sauce which is delicate to a tee and it saves the...effort to crack the claws and bite through the shells as every bite is decadent delicacies!!More

The lady in reception desk (she might be the manager lol) was having a cold face and careless attitude. Hello, the restaurant is in Central Embassy not out in the market. She treated us unprofessinally, wish she couldve smiled at us but her rolling eyes...told everything. DO NOT COME THIS RESTAURANT. The one in Centralwold is much better.More

It is in a major department store. I am quite sure they accept credit card... However you need to check the minimum payment. Every shop has different standard. Cheers.

The central embassy is one of the best mall in Bangkok. It is located near the richest area. It means the restaurants should be great at decorations and service. If you go there before noon, you will enjoy the restaurants... More
