My wife introduced a group of us to this welcome surprise which is down a side street next to the Temple of Literature. Their set lunches are excellent quality and value and the service was good when we visited. Sit up stairs away from the noise and pollution of Hanoi.

I ordered the Tonkatsu set and was stunned by how much food came to the table. It was all delicious but for the seaweed, but that can't be helped... it is, after all, seaweed. We were very pleased to have found this place and left more than sufficiently satiated. Our service was also a little off in accordance with other... More

Ren was my fav Japanese restaurant in Hanoi as the food served there was really fresh and tasty, and it located pretty central, but to be honest the menu was kinda limited, and the service was not really good. There were some times I got my drinks later than people who came to the restaurant after I did, and I... More

I've been at Ren 4/5 times because the food is quite nice but the service is for sure the worst in Hanoi. Last time I've been there they reached the lowest level: 6/7 staffs outside the restaurant completely focused on their phone, another one was at the entrance desk making to himself a fake tattoo with a marker on his... Went to meet some old JPNese friends. Fied Kochi (flat head fish) was tasty. Saba Bo Sushi was OK. Tempura was greasy accoding to my friends. Atomosphere is modern Japanese. Naturally, the place is filled with young JPNese expat. The echo makes conversation difficult. As my friends speak louder, I felt uneasy staying there longer. Difinetely not a dinner place.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Japanese food so I don't have a huge frame of reference but I thought Ren was absolutely superb. We ordered a lot of different dishes; a sushi platter, some wagyu beef, pickled vegetables, assorted pork... Everything was delicious, particularly the beef, the texture of which was amazing. It was pretty pricey (1.2 million... More

Large servings, popular with local expats who know their value restaurants. If you like Japanese food, this is a good spot for lunch if concerned about costs. I was told evening more expensive.

Sashimi and sushi are normal, anything not related to sushi like rice, noodle...terrible. Waitress very slow, unfriendly. They have wifi but very poor connection.

They know what they are doing. Non to wide a menu, light on sushi, which to me always shows confidence in what they do serve. Gets busy, but staff is attentive, and there's something soothing about the place, even when crowded. Great place for lunch after visiting the Temple of Literature.
