We live down the street and saw this place jammed with backpacker set. My daughter wanted a cheese pizza so we gave it a try. Food was decent but service was excellent. Here is why- I had ordered bangers and mash. All the other food came except mine and server apologized for delay. I said I wanted something else since... More

This is some of the best hostel food I have ever tasted (and I have stayed in over 90 hostel in my life). Prices aren't exactly cheap by Cambodian standards, but everything was so delicious. I had the Hoisin Duck Wraps on my first night and I wish I had a second portion! My boyfriend had the mixed grill and... More

Feeling lazy post bumpy bus journey I decided to eat at the Mad Monkey Restaurant. Damn my lazy legs to hell, they let me down. Ordered the Chicken Amok which was a shallow bowl of lumpy yellow disappointment. So much disappointment. The coconut cream in the sauce had curdled. Curdled!! It looked like it had already been eaten once and... More

Had breakfast, lunch and dinner in this restaurant. The food was always very god quality. The food was slightly prices for backpackers but was still really good quality. The staff was friendly and the service was always good.

Had a great time at the Mad monkey. Expect noise as this is a party hostel and a great way to meet people. Advice to the staff - try be quieter in the mornings... around 8am every day we could hear you shouting and playing loud music. Some people are dealing with hangovers!

If you want a party go here. Bar closes at 11.45 so it's also good if you want to sleep!Really good food too! Paula and Rob run the show like absolute champions! Rooftop is awesome. $20 for a private double room. Highly recommend it!

Service was slow for breakfast and food was average. Our group was split with two raving over their pastas and the other two of us having underwhelming experiences. It's your typical Western traveller craving home comforts kind of food - they exploit the Westerner's desire for pasta/pizza/burger etc and you end up paying double what you would if you actually... The Mad Monkey is an awesome restaraunt in the BKK1 Area of Phnom Penh, close to the independence monument and street 278 where the bars are. The food is five star and the atmosphere is informal funky dining with awesome service. Massive breakfast menu, international sandwiches and pizzas for lunch and an awesome dinner menu.
