I've been on a hunt to find new and interesting places in Ulaanbaatar...this has become one of my favorites. It's a very comfortable place just across from the Flower Center (Tsetseg Tuv). The food is very tasty. I've had the Plov (pilaf); a beef salad with tomatoes and eggplant; and also Chuchvara--a tasty broth with dumplings. Usually they play some... More

I am always willing to try something new, and when I saw an Uzbek restaurant in Mongolia, that seemed different enough for me. The food was good, but not delicious enough for me to want to go back. I guess that is why there aren't usually Uzbek restaurants in other parts of the world. The best of Uzbek cuisine could... More

We had been in UB for two weeks when we found Bukhara and it sure was a good change to everything we had. The hot black tea was exactly what we needed on that cold snowy day; they kept refilling our kittle as it emptied. They had different variations of the tea; I loved the black tea with ginger. The... London is renowned for having such a voluminous array of eateries archetypal of the rondure. It’s so bracing in being able to see daintiness forms from other cultures here in Mongolia. I like Bukhara with this emphasis in mind. Good things will come to those who wait, and the food is no expectation. Interior reminds me of my sabbatical in... More

Uzbek cuisine boasts with it's unforgettable taste and the fact that I am familiar with the real Uzbek food, makes me very picky when I visit Uzbek restaurants all over the world. I confess that Bukhara restaurant can compete with such famous ones like "Beloye Solntse" in Moscow, "Samarqand" in London and "Besh-Panja" in NY. When you step into the... More

I went to Bukhara for dinner. The place is nicely decorated with pictures from Uzbekistan and lively colors. The night I visited was almost full. Service is slow and not particularly good. We order meat pastries and instead we got mutton pastries, which had a very strong sheep taste. That night they run out of bread. The salad was not... More

I hit this place at lunchtime during the week with a colleague. Having had Uzbek food before we were both enthused and not dissapointed. I had a dish with rick and lean cooked beef. My colleague ordered Lagman, a traditional dish of thick noodles with beef. My rice dish came with a small slab of fat to add flavor! The... More

The shorlagh stands that appear all over UB in the summer are an Uzbek import. But now these kabobs and other Uzbek dishes have a home where the western end of Baga Toiruu meets Peace Ave (across from the Flower Center). I've been twice and both times ordered the flavorful chicken kabobs and one of their salads. The salads seem... More
