Do you want to see a plane tree next to your table and feel fine... do you want to eat the best/fresh/delicious seafood... start with Turkish white cheese, slice-of-watermelon and raki (or white wine) and chat, chat, chat slowly with your lover/friend whoever... then the 'borek' with 'pastirma+cheese' in it, the non-oiliest fried borek it is, called 'pacanga'... then the... In the centre of lively Ortakoy right next to thr mosque and Bosphorus bridge, the setting is excellent. This is matched by tasty food - good range of Turkish starters, followed by selection of fresh fish. All served attentively. Recommended

Ate dinner here in May 2016 with a couple of friends. It was well priced and the food was great. The service was a bit slow, but otherwise it was a good eating experience. Would I go again, yes.

I would say it is a good seafood restaurant with simple but quite tasty dishes. Classic roasted dorado costs 26 lira, more exotic red mullet - 35, blue fish - 40. Warm starters like deep fried calamary (squid) rings or prawns cooked in butter are good with Efes beer. Service is good and already included in the bill, so you... More

The restaurant is set against a wonderful backdrop of the 1st bridge - built by the British(Cleveland Bridge Co.), the Bosphorus, a very large over-powering Mosque sitting on the waters edge and tight streets with stalls selling mainly jewellery, nick-nacks and souvenirs with some antiques thrown in for good measure. Also there are numerous stalls specialising in sumptuousTurkish Icecream........................ and... More

We went to Cinaraiti as it was close to our hotel and it was raining. We should have been more discerning as this was a very disappointing meal. The chicken was very tough and the meat balls with goats cheese whilst better than the chicken had little flavour. I would not recumbent this place as there are better options in... More

I started to go to Çınaraltı 25 years ago.Ortaköy is a nice old fisher village. At the time there was not a lot of choice. Few restaurants and tea house.Çınaraltı is a friend always to remember. Smiley, not may be elegant but hot enough.

This long time Ortakoy restaurant renovated its upstairs terrace a few years ago. Reserve or arrive early or you risk sell outs of the more popular meze. It has tablecloths but down to earth atmosphere and fortunately for this neighborhood a very mixed demographic.

Five of us had lunch today at this very nice, but reasonably priced full-service restaurant right on the Bosphorus north of Taksim square area. This fish dishes were served very plainly but perfectly grilled. The meatballs were also quite good even though this is mainly a fish restaurant. The service was very nice--at one point we had 5 waiters devoted... More

You must go to this restaurant if you are in Ortakoy. I was there for a week, and went there with friends 3 times in one week. Near the Bosphorus on the main square. Great mezzes and fish.

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
