This restaurant have a pleasant atmosphere. It faithfully reflects the atmosphere of the 1920s. The dishes are good but not unforgettable. I recommend those who appreciate the interior design for a good dinner too. Behind a few tables on the wall, a small copper plate...More

The best atmosphere we have ever had at a restaurant. Only a few steps from the lively, vibrant Istiklal street, is this hidden gem, that it makes you travel back in time as soon as you open the door of the restaurant. The menu consists...More

We ate here on our first night in Istanbul and overall it was a nice dinner. We ordered sea bass, 2 tasting menus and beef which were good but not great.

Perfect dinner for our first evening in Istanbul. Very nice welcome in a beautiful decorated place. Nice cocktails to start off and authentic Russian food. Absolutely worth to try the homemade vodkas from the trolley. We would go back anytime.

1924 is an entire experience-the decor, food, service, music and drinks selection transports you back in time and leaves you full and marinating in 10 types of infused vodka. It’s well worth the money and I would 100% recommend it as part of the Istanbul...More

The decor is fabulous. The food is amazing. We had the duck; it was absolutely delicious. The craft cocktails are original and the salmon vodka is surprisingly fabulous. What really stood out is the preservation of history; It’s like stepping into a time machine. Management...More

Great restaurant - with its wooden panelled walls and classical music you really feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. Food was very good as was the service. Good range of cocktails too!

Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal
Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night
and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights,
shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of
people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive
Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of
the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned
restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening

A TASTE OF HISTORY Contemporary guidebooks described dinner at “1924istanbul” as much a part of experiencing Istanbul as a visit to the bazaar or Blue Mosque. No visitor to Istanbul be it Mata Hari or Greta Garbo, Agatha Christie or the King of Spain would leave the city without paying a call. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Turkish president was a loyal client. Emigrés and civil servants, bohemians and politicians all rubbed shoulders in its wood-paneled dining-room. The common denominator was a sophisticated ambiance, Central & Eastern European delicacies and lashings of ice-cold lemon vodka and some spectacular cocktails. This Istanbul institution with its 80 years tradition is in every detail a legend of a restaurant and bar in istanbul.
