Name change to Mr Deniz very recently so the phone number doesn't work. Dirty plates, off milk and service a little too unaware of when to clear. Food itself was okay, clean. Not what we had hoped for.

A good looking restaurant accompanied by a nice view of the Bosphorus; great for people watching. The food was average at best. One order that turned out funny was ordering "sausage plate"- we assumed they would either be Italian or Spanish sausages or Turkish sausages, but what we received were American hotdogs- mini hotdogs. Nothing special with the service.

it's all good, but don't look for poisson anymore, the new name is My Deniz. I think it's the same food so all the positive reviews still apply

We found the restaurant Poisson in Ortakoy/Istanbul by accident. Situated on a small square by the Bosphorus in a bustling area, it serves very good Turkish style food. We loved it. We were staying at the Shangri La and took a walk to Ortakoy. We liked Poisson so much we went back several nights. Fantastic fish dishes, excellent grilled meats.... More

Very decent place in the heart of Ortakoy,by the water. Very pleasant to sit either downstairs or the upper floor, people watch and see ferries come and go. Very lively and fun. They have the standard fish and meze offer. It is all very good. Decent prices, which is not so common in these parts of istanbul.

We had this restaurant recommended to us but it did not live up to its reputation. The service was very slow. While the fish tasted quite good, the accompanying salad and potato were quite ordinary. We were charged for bread and plain bottled water which was a surprise. We felt that the waiter was not happy that we did not... More

This is one ofthe most perfect locations to eat a meal in the world. Set underneath an old bridge with a cobblestone square between you and the beautiful Bosphorus, you can't help but be happy. The meals are delicious. I recommend the whole sea bass! Go for lunch for the daytime view and then at dusk to watch the sun... More

Check the bill. The food tasted ok but we ordered dips and didn't realize they kept sneaking extra bread on to the bill without asking and they included their own tip. How do you eat dips in Istanbul without bread? If you don't mind being ripped you might enjoy this.

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
