The owner drug us in several times ,always showing small prices on menu .When we finally decided to have a dinner , he came and very suggestive and with a lot of words profitable, and hiding the price with his hand on the menu , recommended mixed kebab with vegetables. Meat was greasy , unfinished, tasteless vegetables, lots of cheap... More

I went there with wife and 2 year old son. I was just looking for a place to eat, with no particular restaurant in mind. The manager coerced us to come over. We sat outside with a lot of people reading by. The restaurant was otherwise almost at full capacity. Ordered Urfa Kebab, as the name of the joyrestaurant is... More

First time Id been to this restaurant and its the best I have to in Istanbul so far. Anything I ordered was perfectly cooked, at the right temperature, and was good portion size. The drinks were chilled at the right temperature, not hot and not too cold. The consistency of the dishes was also excellent. I ordered red lentil with... More

Food was delicious, especially the spicy kebap (Adana or Iskandar, not sure which one). Service was similar to what all the eateries on busy pedestrian streets have. Brisk and to the point.

We have stumbled upon Urfalim when walking in the Sirkeci area. Service was picky at ordering, food was simply mediocre but the real shock came with the bill! Our bill totalled 44,00 TL but a cheeky 60 was handed over to me on the back of the bill. I told the waiter it just does not add up then said... More

The food was just okay, kind of bland. Service was the same. Worst part is they charged a 3tL "service charge" on top of a 27tL bill. We asked for a breakdown, learned of the service charge at that point. When we asked about the service charge, something else suddenly got his attention and off he went.

We went to this place as Balkan Lokantasi was closed earlier than expected (8pm...still didn't know why). We saw that there are many people dining here so it couldn't be that bad. The service was great until the waiter heard that we want to share two plates for three people...his face just suddenly showed obvious disgust. Well I'm glad we... More

Went to Urfalim Kebap as the venue was right near our hotel (Orient Express) we walked by and a guy called us in, telling us about the excellent options and nice food and good prices. We decided to give it a go. The restaurant is located on a very busy street with lots of pedestrians which we did not mind... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
