First impression is not very welcoming, as the interior seems old fashioned and dusty. But once you sit on the covered terrace with view on the Bosphorus, one starts to feel much better. The restaurant serves wonderful fish and mezze, everything we had was excellent: from different kinds of fish, octopus, calamari and vegetable dishes. A wonderful red wine accompanied... More

The restaurant is a very old , good quality fish restaurant. Fish and mezze's are always the best. However, people were smoking on the closed terrace part. The terrace is open during summer and people can smoke of course, but they close the top during the winter and half of the guests were smoking. I opened the window to get... More

Getting to Bebek from a hotel in Istanbul is going to take some time. The road is narrow, the traffic is always heavy and a lot of people are coming and going. But it is all worth it to get to Bebek Balikci. The entrance is unassuming and appears a little run down with a dried mounted fish in the... More

Upscale restaurant is a posh neighborhood on the river. Great place, good service, good food. Excellent choice if you want to stay upscale and classy. But, if you want a more interesting experience with the same quality of food, take the Bosphorus cruise and eat in Anadolu Kavagi! An order of bonito at this restaurant costs 50 TL, and the... More

It is a long drive by taxi from the downtown Istanbul, but it is worth the time. The restaurant is right on the Bosphorus and you need an advanced reservation if you want the table near the water. It offers a great view of the passing ships. The food and the service are very good.

They are choosing customers for tables. Fake reservation marks on tables. Food is ordinary, staff is friendly; but manager or I don't know who he is, he is too devious, I don't suggest this restaurant. If you want to enjoy the bosphorus scene to the hilt you can go to park without discrimination. Wrong manager or service chef for that... More

Decent food, beautiful view, very attentive staff but you're mainly paying for the neighborhood in which the restaurant is located (Bebek) which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you don't mind the relatively quite expensive price tag ( since you can get the same quality of food for a lower price)

I have been coming to this restaurant for about 5 years now Fantastic location sitting right on the Bosphorus - make sure you try and get a seat outside so you can enjoy the wonderful views along the Bosphorus . Wonderful fresh selection of local delicacies , great local white wines . Evenings tend to be very busy , so... More

Groups are always a challenge, and ours was a big one. But they keep it at a very good level. The location on the Bosphorus is very traditional in Istanbul. I was expecting a better quality on the food.

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
