Lovely menu and a real taste of France in the South Pacific. One of the the nicest meals we enjoyed in Nouméa. Also a very nice wine list with some half bottles available as well

At first restaraunt staff can be challenged by feeding vegetarians but this team went the extra mile and made the yummiest goat cheese salad for us

Mains: Braised duck in shepherd's pie style, paired with a Les Petites Jamelles red wine. (weekly special) Pan-fried mahi-mahi fillet with vanilla butter sauce. (weekly special) Desserts: Apple tarte tatin and vanilla ice cream. (weekly special) Home-made vanilla crème brûlée. Some say I'm easily pleased,...but damn this was good. Nice portions as well. Didn't feel like we ate too much. Service was fantastic, very attentive, and patient with my bad French XDMore

Had a delightful lunch on a humid Noumea day and as recommended by friends we thought we would give it a try & were not disappointed. Good selection on the menu without been over fussy or hard to read in my schoolgirl French. One waitress...could speak English so explained any queries we had about the menu. We sat inside as it was air conditioned and the restaurant is made up of several rooms for dining but not too noisy or sitting on top of others. We had the casserole of chicken with side vegetables and a lovely glass of Bordeaux wine and whilst not cheap because of exchange rate it was an excellent meal.More

Our 2nd time at La Chaumiere, this time for a morning coffee break. Their Latte was the best coffee we had during our 2 week stay. We also ordered the tart Maison, which was chocolate and pear (delicious) and the most enormous chocolate brownie (seriously,...could have fed 3) and a chocolate muffin (also huge). We had to get the half we couldn’t eat packaged up to take away. Service was great, even warming up the brownie (a must).More

Really lovey meal! My sister and I came here after reading many reviews and we were not disappointed. We got here at 6.50pm and it was empty, but 7.15 it was full. Lucky we got here early as we had no booking. We had the...snails, mussels, the lamb shank and prawns and we shared all the dishes and was lovely. We had a bottle of red as well. The whole experience and staff were brilliantMore

We didn't get to eat out much in Noumea because our stay included Sunday and Monday when a lot of restaurants are closed but I really wanted to enjoy at least one French restaurant. We ate here because of all the great reviews. We left...pretty underwhelmed. It was nice-ish but nothing to write home about. My duck shepherd's pie could have been any meat quite frankly and it was way over-salted. The salad was limp saturated in dressing. My companion's meal was at least fresher being tuna tartare but that was about it. There wasn't a lot of ambience as there was only one other family there during lunch. We were full at least when we left and the staff were friendly. It did put me off dining in other French restaurants if La Chaumiere is supposed to be up there.More

This place was a really pleasant surprise. Food and service were both excellent. Menus in both English and French, so no difficulty there. We shared entrees, tuna carpaccio, half cooked tuna, tuna and salmon pate, and fried prawns - all great. Standout mains were duck...shepherd's pie, and beef fillet with foie gras butter sauce. We only had two courses each, and so didn't try the deserts, but they looked fabulous. Have already booked a return visit there in two days time, will try the deserts then. Food and drinks are both very very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.More

What a find! A day trip in Noumea while on a cruise doesn’t leave much time for exploring but as we’ve visited Noumea before we had just one goal - to have a terrific French meal! And WOW our lunch at La Chaumiere delivered. It’s...a lovely space and the food is flawless. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the menu offerings were everything we could have asked for. We would return in a heartbeat.More

Noumea has become somewhat polluted and the one way system is noisy. It is still fun and this restaurant in the Latin Quarter still glows. The food is consistently very good with a pronounced Frech accent. The staff are wonderful and understand our poor French....The prices for food and wine are reasonable by Noumea standards. If you do nothing else in New Caledonia go to La Chaumiere.More

We were personally recommended to this place so felt it would be worth the visit. Not disappointed in anyway, in fact we loved it! Tasty rich french food served in quite a casual environment (french with the typical pacific island charm). Fixed price 2 or...3 course meal - 2 versions were available - the weekly special menu (can be found on Facebook only) and the normal menu (we couldnt find that menu online). We were able to do a blend of the cheaper weekly menu and the normal menu - mains were a rich crispy lamb shank casserole with mash and duck breast served shepards pie style (ie covered in that same luscious creamy mash). About 15 wines by the glass as well a a long bottled wine list. Very happy would recommend...More
