I found information about this tea house online and went there with a friend. It's hidden from the main road and you have to go through a courtyard to find it. The atmosphere is relaxed and you get the feeling of travelling back in time. There's an extensive list of Korean teas to choose from, all served in traditional china.... More

This is the traditional tea house which I visit each time I go to Insadong. I love their wide-range of tea and the ambiance is relaxing. You can choose to either sit on the fllor (traditional Koran style) or at Western-style table. If you choose to sit at the seat near the window, you can enjoy the scenery too. (It... More

So this is like the middle of town and there are tiny streets and tiny restaurants. Somehow in the midst of all of this, there is these walls which open to a big piece of land and a ancient Korean teahouse. This place is fantastic as one can sit in the garden and slowly drink tea. We went inside the... More

I love the ambiance of the place esp if you choose to stay inside; very relaxing. I enjoyed the jujube tea and tried their assorted traditional rice desserts. The staff are friendly too. It's not very difficult to find. The street is on your left side if you're walking into the main street coming from the metro station.

Dawon Tea House is nestled away from the hustle and bustle of everyday (tourist) life. Their teas are delectable and very special. The atmosphere in and around the teahouse is relaxing and kind of zen. A bit expensive, but - I myself thought - it was worth it.

We took a while to find this place after dinner as it was dark and the entrance was in a small alley. After turning into Insadong 10-gil from the main Insadong street, you have to turn left into another small alley where the entrance to the tea garden is located. We ordered a plum tea which was slightly sweet and... More

This is one of my most favorite places in Seoul. The ambiance is great, with the art galleries surrounding it, the garden, and the inside. Their tea, and their rice cookies are very tasty. The staff is very helpful (and I do not forget they took great care of the tablet I accidentally left behind in 2013, and that they... More

As all coffee or tea houses this one is really expensive. They have a perfect choice of all kind of specialties and the installation is very original. You pay for this. Between 7000-8000 Won for a cup of tea is not for every bodies budget, but I like the place and go at least once or twice when I'm in... More

The main streets of Insadong is very crowded, but the moment you walk into the Dawon Tea Garden, it feels like you have been transformed back in time to a simpler era. The garden itself is beautiful, the tea house is quaint, and the tea itself was delicious! Come here for the traditional hanok atmosphere and the refreshing tea. We... More

Staying in Insadong

Neighbourhood Profile
Insadong
Nestled between Jongno and Samcheongdong, this small neighborhood offers a crash course in various aspects of Korean culture. Rows of shops display traditional Korean goods such as pottery and earthenware, crafts, fans, and more, making it a popular spot for souvenir shopping. The Ssamziegil shopping complex in particular has become a local institution for its unique spiral layout and the many boutique shops inside that sell handmade crafts and goods. This is the perfect neighborhood to sample a range of Korean dishes, with vegetarian Korean temple cuisine restaurants being a popular draw, but street food carts are just as famous. As a top tourist destination, crowds can swell, particularly on weekends, but you can find some rest and respite in one of the private art galleries or grab a cup of Korean tea in a tea house – many of which are located in beautifully renovated traditional Korean homes.
