The food here is simply amazing. The prices are reasonable and the service is impeccable. This is definitely a must visit restaurant when visiting Seoul.

Jan 6, 2017 Got the lunch special which was soup/salad, main, and a dessert. Chicken soup was good. For main, chose mixed platter which was a (dry) chicken skewer, hamburger steak, and two (tiny) pork ribs. Dessert was plain yogurt and everyone in the restaurant was getting it comped anyway, so the special wasn't really that special. Anyhow, eight hours... More

I rarely write review of bad experiences but this was just too gross. We ordered some appetizers and in the eggplant cheese was some kind of ROACH. They were nice about it and we didnt pay for our meal but it just was shocking for a presumably nice restaurant. Never again will I eat there.

First visit to a Bulgarian restaurant in the heart of Seoul and served by Aigera from Kazakhstan. Cannot get more interesting than that. Menu is interesting ordered Kiufte which is pork and beef meatball with vegetables and mushroom sauce with Bulgarian rose water. I wanted to try some Bulgarian wine but they serve only by bottle and I could not... More

I learned about Zelen from Korean friends. They told me about a famous Balkan place in Seoul with good food. Tried it recently with a couple of friends. All of the food was great, but the best we tried was kofte, minced meat. Great taste and atmosphere like in Bulgaria. If you feel like trying some great dishes from the... More

First of all, I made this a "destination" stop during my quick trip to Korea for a family wedding. I'm really glad that I did. I watch the Korean cooking competition show, Please Take Care of My Refrigerator and became a fan of chef Mikhal Ashminov. I've actually been to Bulgaria, so I was curious what Bulgarian food in Korea... More

The famous star chef Michael runs this house. To start, white cheese salad is recomended. The tomato, cucumber and onions are covered with abundant white cheese flakes. Spinach Chicken is good with breast of chicken stuffed with creamed spinach along with lemon butter sauce. The price is relatively not higher than the other restaurants in Itaewon. Grinded beef with pork... More

I used to go to zelen quite often when I lived in Seoul. Last month I visited Seoul and zelen was at the top of my list of restaurants to go to. It didn't disappoint. Just as good as always. The appetizers are to die for and the spinach chicken is so yummy. Of course it's expensive but most things... More

This is the famous bulgarian restourant in Seoul. The kitchen and the service is perfect. You will have the most famous Cheff in South Korea Mihal Spasov - he is a movie and TV star, but the food they are serving in this resourant is fusion

The Zelen is located in Itaewon, right in the heart of this lively neighborhood. After we arrived to Seoul, we quickly became usual customers, because of the tasty food and friendliness of the owners and staff. The menu is composed of Easter European food (mainly Bulgarian), with no such things as fusion or modern influences. They serve rich food, prepared... More

Staying in Itaewon

Neighbourhood Profile
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
