Our guide from the Egyptin museum took us there because it is nearby. The place looks uninviting from outside, and "typical" (vs traditional ) on the inside. The only food serves is Koshari, and really it is more than enough. Koshari is a typical poor man's dish in Egypt, made of Koshari is made of noodles, spaghetti, lentils, rice, and... More

A must try place. Kushari is delicious and this was the best we had I'm Egypt. Packed with locals, it's a cultural experience. Kushari is all that is served (its a rice, macaroni, lentil combo that comes topped with a flavourful tomato sauce which you can add garlic vinegar and chilli sauce to) and its dirt cheap.

The restaurant is narrow, but three stories high. It is full of huge fish tanks and fairly energetic Egyptian music is playing in the background. There is only one dish...koshary (many spellings) and it is DELICIOUS. We paid $2 each for quite a large plate. Our waiter was so helpful--explained how to prepare the chick peas (with lemon juice) and... More

It is simply the best traditional koshary, it is even better than home made one even from professional mothers. What is really missed is a green salad for healthy food.

Koshary is an Egyptian traditional foods though Koshari al-Tahrir is good but it is one of several restaurants offering this kind of food. Suits vegetarians.

In the heart of Cairo. Looks like a small little place, but step inside and you'll find stairs spiraling up to a bigger eating area! Koshery, for those of you who don't know, is a mixture of like macaroni, lentils, fried onions, marinara sauce, and this spicy sauce (and I'm sure there are different variations of koshery...small additions etc). But... More
