After strolling through Khan el Khalili, looking for a good copper tray, lots of haggling, and lots of "no thank you", it's a pleasure to come to Nagib Mafouz Restaurant. The menu features all sorts of Egyptian food, tasty appetizers and tempting deserts. We enjoyed the food, but the restaurant was cooled down to what felt like 18°C. The service... More

Good typical Egyptian food, slightly off the main square, in a pleasant area. Named after the famous Egyptian writer. Look up to see the streets he describes in Palace Walk, with the houses almost touching.

Great atmosphere for a warm oriental dinner evening to listen to music and eat great food. This is a typical Egyptian restaurant, offering high quality food and great Egyptian music with wonderful instruments.

At the heart of the Khan El Khalili bazaar you find this timeless oasis from the hassle and buzz of the vendors in the whirling maelstrom of the absorbing but stressful market outside; the Naguib Mahfouz has been a safe haven for the hassled as well as a magnet for foodies for years. The best mezze in Cairo? Possibly -... More

I come here as often as I can when I am in Cairo. I went with my cousin in the evening to listen to music and eat great food. This is a typical Egyptian restaurant, offering high quality food and great Egyptian music with wonderful instruments. The men wear the good old Fezz, and you can sit and enjoy shisha.... More

This is one of the best places in town for anyone visiting Cairo. The location is next to Khan Khalili which is a must see. Food quality is superb, delicious, filling and tasty. We had Fattah, mahshy, kawar all Egyptian delicacies which are hard to find in a place. The set up and atmosphere is great with some of the... More

This beautifully decorated restaurant in the heart of the Khan El-Khalili Bazaar is worth a stop for lunch. Served by a staff of passionate, fez-wearing waiters, the dishes like Koushari, Falafel, Hawawshi are exotic and scrumptious. Service is somewhat slow, because this is a quite popular little cafe, but worth the wait. Their coffee was the best.

This cafe is my favourite in Khan El Khalil, after the bustle of the souk you enter in a peaceful oasis. The atmosphere of this place is unique and the quality of the food is amazing. It is a bit expensive than other places but it worth a visit.
