Purdy Arms is a madeover farm-type place with a lovely outdoor restaurant, a neighborhood pub, a small boutique hotel and large grassy grounds for special events. I like going there for lunch; their paneer tikka salad is marvelous, the fish is good, and their 2-for-1 pizza on Wednesdays is hot, fresh and decorated with interesting topping choices. Pretty much everything... More

We had lunch at Purdy Arms during Nairobi Restaurant Week and I don't know whether the staff was simply overwhelmed by that week or whether that's the way service always is but we waited very long for everything! They took more than 15 min to bring the menus, more than 10 min to bring drinks, more than half an hour... More

Excellent place to visit. Before having lunch went around the place and had a nice walk. Food was very nice, and so was the service - fast and efficient.

Loved the ships and the choices we had. Very pretty area as well. I was able to get some pretty Kikoi scarves and some locally made candlesticks.

Vacationing in Nairobi and though to have lunch at Purdy Arms before our flight back home. Saw reviews on tripadvisor recommending booking a table on Sundays as they are very busy on the weekends. As we were already heading there decided to wing it. Arrived a bit early and managed to get the last unreserved table outside in the garden.... More

I'd like to think that I'm a generous reviewer. I usually lean towards giving people the benefit of the doubt to be fair. This place was highly recommended to me by colleagues. They always spoke of it as if it's the oasis of fun and the "in" place to be on a Saturday in Nairobi..the food..the service..bla..bla..bla.. Well, I went... More

Dear Sir, Thanks a lot for taking the time to review the Purdy Arms in Karen. I can only agree that we do get very busy on the weekends and are proud to host the Organic Farmers Market which does attract a fantastic atmosphere to the grounds. We do also offer plenty of space for kids to run around in... More

Having eaten, and drunk, at Purdy Arms a number of times my girlfriend and I decided to stay for a night and not worry about the long drive home. Fantastic idea - comfortable beds, coffee station next to the bed and a scrumptious breakfast to help sort out tender heads the next morning. Will definitely stay again!

I had brunch there with a few friends and it's been by far the biggest disappointment of my stay in Kenya. Service was tragic: wrong orders; very slow; one of us never got his brunch and after asking for 3 times to 3 different waiters (and after going directly to the kitchen) he gave up and left without eating. Pls... More

Dear Carla, Straight off let me apologise for your experience at the Purdy Arms. It is entirely our fault, but that weekend our Point Of Sale System decided to go on strike which lead to numerous issues, all bad, and experiences such as yours. We entirely put our hands up that this was our fault and have since invested heavily... More

This restaurant is best during off hours, particularly for early lunch, before the hordes descend. Avoid the weekend brunch, when a) the food has been sitting at the buffet rather than being prepared to order, and b) the crowds can be maddening. salads and appetizers are excellent, and can easily make up a whole meal. Also great choice of drinks.

Dear Queen Charlotta, Thanks so much for taking time to write a review. I think that you are reasonably spot on and its great that you have given us a go during the less busy times. We are constantly looking at how we can improve our service during the busy weekends, and do serve over 750 meals on a Saturday... More
