Over the years, Tarboush was my go to restaurant at the Coast for Pwani flavour, however the last visit left a disappointing taste in my mouth. The service was slow, and it took five minutes to get a waiter to our table and even longer for them to clean/ clear the table, and bring our food. The food was also... More

If you want to have fast tasty food it's the place to go to. The atmosphere is not so good neither is it so clean but you are assured of fresh food because if you go around 14.00 hrs almost everything on the menu is finished and you have to make do with what's left. Same applies to the evening... More

Nothing better than dining in the open air in Mombasa city. This is a good restaurant and lots of locals are dining here. The food is good, the servings BIG. But.... ask for a doggy bag (In Kenya called: paper bag) and let them give your left over to the poor people in the park nearby.

This place is always incredibly busy and is very popular with a wide range of locals, in part because the meals are inexpensive and hearty. It's an interesting place for people watching but vegetarians, beware. There aren't many options. I had a vegetarian curry and it tasted like a can of Campbell's vegetable soup. In other words, bland and blah.... More

No atmosphere to speak of. Not a very clean place and loads of flies in the restaurant. But having said that, for a good and tasty meal that gets to you quickly at a cheap price, Tarboush is the restaurant to go to.

Not a fancy or even an especially clean place, but it does the job for a quick, tasty and inexpensive meal. Staff are friendly and service was fairly quick. Would recommend it if you're looking for a simple, Tanzanian meal. If you want something a bit nicer though, visit the sister restaurant Forodhani, near Fort Jesus.

Tarboush's food and especially the shawarma...they speak for themselves...flagging down a waiter, rest rooms and the space generally has been overtaken by time....a few years ago it was the talk of the town, not so of late...sadly we didnt enjoy the experience.
