The name of the restaurant in English is Taste, but in Mandarin it is ZaMo. The food is quite tasty, but strangely none of it piping hot. It is fresh though. Sat on the rooftop and watched tourists go crazy with the shops along the street. The food is all right. But this is a very touristy place. I travelled... More

I went with Chinese friends who had read good critics about this place on the Internet. They ordered local dishes for us. Overall was the food ok, even the less classy dishes like Beijing duck pizza. However, the place was not clean and the dinner room on the second floor not very nice to sit in.

Nanluoguxiang is quite a touristy place with lots of fast food joints. This restaurant is one among a few serving proper food and it does a decent job of it. The food is mainly Chinese and you'll get a lot of it for not much money. Appeared popular with locals as well as foreigners. I spent 141 RMB on appetizers... More

Had a decent meal here. Food was good quality. Ordering was however a bit stressful as there was some pressure to order the expensive items on the menu. After leaving we also realised that we had been given old banknotes as change that are no longer usable.

While the food here is relatively cheap, it has much to be desired by way of actual taste. The chicken dish I ordered (my second choice - they were out of my first choice) had very little chicken, and the chicken it did have was half fat / skin. The waiter literally threw a plate on my table! It was... More

We found this restaurant at our first night here in beijing. We went in only because it was so late, that very few foodplaces still served. But this became our favorite place!! It is very popular, and has a lot of chinese guests. At dinner time, it can be difficult to have a tanke... But a friendly staff always try... More

Good selection of tasty food, and recognizable Chinese dishes. They also have a small range of pizza and sandwiches which can come in handy if the kids are fussy. Food quality is average (by Beijing standard), but what sets this place apart is the colourful bohemiam decor, friendly and attentive service and its location in a vibrant hutong.

I want to add the the excellent review from annieandhamish a few more points, but I agree with almost all of it. We liked it enough to go several times as we were staying in the Hutong area so it became our local "go to" place. Food is quite good and the service as well. The girls don't speak English... More

This really is an amazing restaurant. The two of us ate like pigs (!) and it all came to ¥355 (I think it was something like 7 dishes). Each dish was cooked amazingly and the presentation was absolutely fantastic. It was a pleasant surprise as the surroundings suggested a more basic bistro style cafe. It was really relaxed and the... We had lunch here - the food was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the aubergine - absolutely divine - Spicy so beware if chilli is not your thing. They had a bell on the table to call for service. Great ambience.
