I loved my meal here. Dining solo in HK was challenging at times as it seems nearly every restaurant is family style. I was able to get a few dishes (Ma La Tang Diced Chicken; Jelly Noodles half portion; individual dim sum items) and had a nice varied (big) lunch. The balance of the ma la tang (Sichuan peppercorn) at... More

Had heard much about their hot pot so finally gave it a shot. We took the spicy Sichuan broth for our hot pot and I must accept that even by Indian standards it's really hot. The Sichuan peppers in the broth are tangy but have a strong spicy after taste that remains. Next time I would take the other broth...... More

had big group dinner there so we tried a dozen hot dishes and some cold appetizer. The cold dishes were all tasty but the portion is quite small. We ordered a whole cold chicken in chili oil sauce which was very flavorful. The fish in hot chili "water" was excellent we love both the boneless fish and the thick noodles.... More

This serious spicy and hot Szechuan ( with some Cantonese dim sum too ). Quality of their 'garlic white pork' is surely the best in town! Service is good and QPR is far better than the competitor in Happy Valley. Recommended....

Not on the tourist trail, this is a fab Szechuan restaurant. I went as a guest of a local who navigated the menu, so I don't know if it's available in English, but I can confirm that the food was first class and seemingly very authentic. Dishes were served with dried chillies, but the Szechuan pepper-corns were the dominant flavour.... More

Because of their coupon for savoring different Chinese cuisine, we had our meal in San Xi Lou for multiple times in August 2016. The 水煮魚 was the best I have eaten in any restaurants, the fish was fresh and lots of other ingredients are used to capture the taste.

This is an authentic Szechuan restaurant, though they do tend to make the food a little less spicy to cater to local tastes. The service is efficient and we were able to communicate quite well in English with the staff. The cold poached chicken in peanut and spicy sauce was my favourite! If you are looking for authentic Szechuan food... More

For those craving for authentic tongue numbing Sichuan food in Hkg. San Xi Lou is a must. We ordered their signature dishes Spicy Sichuan Style Stewed Fish and Double Baked Prawns with Pepper in Casserole. Along with Mapo Tofu. The fish very tasty with numbing effect! Prawn is fresh and you can eat the shell, it's crispy (double baked). Must... More

Sichuan is one of my favourite Chinese cuisine and in most cities outside China the spice level is always toned down to cater to local taste. The dishes here are authentically spicy. So be warned if you can't stomach spicy food! They have good selection of dishes and prices are reasonable. Service is prompt and friendly. Location wise, it's not... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
