Xenri is a very low key restaurant serving high quality Japanese food. Even if you live HK, you might not know this lovely restaurant hidden in the busiest area of HK. Our friend, a Japanese-food-lover brought us there for dinner. We were seated at the sushi bar area where the chef made and introduced every dish in front of us.... More

Went for dinner with a friend. It's a cosy place but the manager was very condescending and we found his his attitude bazaar. My friend was sitting with her back against an overgrown plant so we asked to move to next table along. He asked, "Should I cut that plant back then?", and my friend said that would be a... More

It was hard to find because the address listed was incorrect. Anyway, the place is small and cozy yet the wait staff took forever to serve us. We were constantly trying to get their attention just to receive a refill of tea. The four seasons sashimi was good but the small amount they give you in that tiny bowl was... More

We visited this restaurant as it was in walking distance to our hotel and were traveling with elderly parents. The food was fabulous. Probably some of the freshest, tastiest seafood I have ever eaten. We had two vegetarians in the group and they were catered for brilliantly. My only complaint was the bill. The waitress (who from reading other reviews... More

Before leaving for our trip, my husband and I were looking online for new restaurants to try out. We stumbled upon Xenri No Tsuki on Instagram. The photos of plates of huge uni attracted us. Upon looking up the restaurant, we found out that the gigantic uni is called horse dropping uni because it looked exactly like that! It was... More

We went looking for somewhere to eat and because our two daughter's (6 & 8) like sushi, we thought we'd try Japanese. The first place we went to was full and then they recommended the 6th floor explaining it was "the best". We had no idea what we were in for. On entering the restaurant, it was beautifully decorated in... More

Some of the freshest sashimi and nigiri i've had. Very attentive staff, but maybe that was because there were only two other tables for dinner. It seems you don't need a reservation. Really some of the best Japanese food I've had. Very pricey.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
