#butao #ramen in #hongkong is pretty damn good; got my bowl in under 5 mins after ordering. Japanese malt beer was good as well. Only negatives: out of char sui pork and thick noodles, otherwise would give 5/5.

This small restaurant in Central is absolutely delicious. My friend and I ordered the Red King and Butao Ramen; both were spot on. The pork belly melted in our mouths. Portions were large and there was free kimchi bean sprouts on the table. You can customize your ramen's oil, seasoning, spiciness, meat, and much more. Additionally, I recommend adding toppings... This ramen shop is very good. They have a menu in english in case you can't speak Chinese. The ordering is very straightforward, the menu is a checklist and you just tick from the options what you want, type of noodles, broth, toppings and etc. I got the black one, squid ink and it was heavenly. I am currently dreaming... More

Arrived alone at 2.30 pm and had to wait outside for 10 minutes. That is a good sign. I was seated at the bar, with half of me invading the reserved space for food coming out for the waiters. I didn't know I was so difficult to see, for waiters that is. Frankly I am very quickly getting fed up... More

Possibly my favourite ramen place in Hong Kong. I love spicy food and their Red king has the both the right flavour and spice. The place is always busy and buzzing and staff are polite. Take note that they won't seat you until all parties have arrived. Although I love their ramen, i must say me and a friend have... More

I ordered the classic Tonkotsu ramen in order to compare to the one at Ichiran. I visited Butao twice and found that the portion served on the first occasion was bigger than the second time. For both occasions, I didn’t have to queue as I was there before lunch time. It can get quite busy from 12pm onwards. The branch... More

Tucked away in one of the streets near Central, is Butao King Ramen. We went there on a rainy evening but we so lucky to get seats immediately. The queue started soon after. Me and my son both loved the soup and the Ramen. The "standard" options like spiciness, softness that are provided at any respectable Ramen restaurants are all... More

My first ramen adventure in Hong kong and I'm hooked. The butao King (squid ink ramen) is a must try. It's made of Tonkatsu broth with squid ink. The squid ink adds a pleasant earthiness creating a rich murky broth. You can customize them from normal to super rich broth, how spicy, and how done your noodles. The pork butt... More

Coming from the Uk and being used to the Ramen dishes at Wagamama this place makes them seem like poor imitations without flavour. This place is friendly, cosy and most importantly serves quickly up flavourful dishes to affordable prices. If you like your Ramen bowls look no further. This is the place to eat them! Very central location next to... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
