The food, the wine, the experience - it was all great. We went for our first night in Hong Kong. It was so good that every night when it came time for dinner we said we should just go back to 22 Ships. We heard much about the dining scene in Hong Kong but this was by far our best... More

We ate fairly late on a Thursday night. Restaurant was busy and a good vibe. Delicious food. The tuna tartare was excellent. As well as the burrata, and cauliflower dish. My friends also enjoyed the mashed potatoes with egg. I will definitely be back

This tapas bar serves great dishes. Be prepared to squeeze into tight seating spots and rub shoulders with strangers seated next to you. This was my second visit as I was staying nearby and it had been raining most of the day. We were seated immediately as some folks had just left. I had to wait for quite a while... More

Most places on Ship Street are very. This place stands out for great Tapas with a twist, and good use of Foie Gras in many dishes Pork and Foie Gras sliders and Foie Gras Uni with white truffle to name a few. Setting is cool with inside sitting around the bar/kitchen and outside open to the street. Top pick was... More

I always eat lunch here solo to enjoy their specials and normal tapas! The shop is though small - my favorite is their toastie and the latest lamb rib and spring chicken! Just taste sooooo good!

Had the toastie starter, thought the filling was sparse and didn't get much of the truffle flavor that I was looking for. Had the suckling pig for a main, it was ok but thought there would be more meat as it was 90% bones and skin, also thought the sauce was very bitter. Ordered a red sangria and received the... More

If you want a great fun and relaxed evening with a great HK vibe, this place is fantastic. Tapas with a twist with some true great dishes (and deserts !). Love the Ham n Cheese truffle toasties soooo much. We sat on the bench that backs on the street, and just had a great evening. Even made us forget our... More

I must have been here a dozen times. Great food in a cramped bolthole in Wanchai. If you sit at the counter you can see dishes being prepared and the chefs are happy to answer questions. The quality was perhaps a little better 2 years ago when they first opened but it is still well worth a visit. The truffle... More

The no reservation tapas bar 22 Ships has become one of Hong Kong hottest tables since opening in October 2012 - offering an eclectic menu of modern tapas, served in a buzzy yet relaxed setting, and a dynamic list of sherries, wines, spirits and Spanish beers. Using the best of both European and Asian ingredients, Michelin-star Chef Jason Atherton and 22 Ships’ Executive Chef Lee Westcott bring a modern touch to traditional classics. Westcott, who has strong a Michelin background and has worked with acclaimed chefs such as René Redzepi at Noma, was Head Chef at Tom Aikens Restaurant in London before taking up his role of leading the kitchen at 22 Ships

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
