Super noisy and crowded, this place is always busy. And for good reason! The food is delicious and so unique. Our favourite is the "cauliflower, mushroom, parsley, walnut pesto" dish. Incredibly unique and flavourful. The desserts are all innovative and tasty. Don't go here if you're claustrophobic. It's busy and hectic.

It was really noisy but fit for the ambiance of this little restaurant in the chic Wanchai downtown area. The Spanish breakfast features a soft boiled egg with slices of sausages. The idea is good but the food temperature is a little bit strange, neither warm nor chilled. The mini burger is great with the the right mix of pan... More

Have been there during business trips in October and November and I love the place. It is a small, stylish and relaxed place with amazing good food. They do Tapas in their own style and everything we have tried was great. Prices are absolutely ok, Service nice and the restaurant manager Emmanuel are really good guy. For me the place... More

This is a really buzzy tapas restaurant in Wanchai run by chef Aaron Gillespie for Jason Atherton. They don't take reservations, just give your name at the door and they call you when a place is ready. Our wait was 30 minutes and you can go to their sister bar Ham and Sherry nearby for a drink and they will... More

What a fantastic find. Aaron Gillespie is the executive chef at this wonderful tapas bar by Jason Atherton and I really think he may be one to watch in the future. No booking, so you just have to wait for a table or seats at the bar but it is well worth the wait. If you are really interested in... More

Probably a good place to go for a drink with a tapas rather than dinner as the portions are microscopic. We really liked the paella which in the scheme of things is 'good value for money' Scallops were amazing Tuna salad nice but far too expensive for the 2 bites it entails Baby chicken was excellent The low point was... It was good food but I had a higher expectation. I can't say I was disappointed but felt like the real chef was on holiday. Whoever followed the recipe didn't quite get it. Overall, I did enjoy my dinner there. Will I go back again? Yes, I will and hope the chef will be on back then.

Stumbled on this restaurant as it was very close to our hotel. The food was good and refreshing. Love the scallops ceviche and the roasted caramelized carrots. The tomato toasts were a bit too soaky with olive oil but still taste great regardless. However, it was a bit pricey.

It's a small tapas bar crowded with people. I guess that because of its popularity they forgot how to smile, to look welcome. They are giving nice little tapas plates like I had in many other places. Nothing was news or to write hope about. Price are way above average. We got up and moved to the next place. I... More

Description
The no reservation tapas bar 22 Ships has become one of Hong Kong hottest tables since opening in October 2012 - offering an eclectic menu of modern tapas, served in a buzzy yet relaxed setting, and a dynamic list of sherries, wines, spirits and Spanish beers. Using the best of both European and Asian ingredients, Michelin-star Chef Jason Atherton and 22 Ships’ Executive Chef Lee Westcott bring a modern touch to traditional classics. Westcott, who has strong a Michelin background and has worked with acclaimed chefs such as René Redzepi at Noma, was Head Chef at Tom Aikens Restaurant in London before taking up his role of leading the kitchen at 22 Ships

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
