A nice place, needs a bit of touches to soften it in the evening when it can feel soulless. The reception staff can be more friendly. The food is good and reliable. I like to drop by for lunch or dinner when I am in a hurry and do not want a fussy place. Reliable.

Came with my son and young grandson for Sunday brunch. The service was very good, the grandson was very well looked after and the food was excellent. The coffee was very tasty too, worth a visit but not cheap.

Set dinner was a little overpriced. Both our strip loin steak main courses were gristly and chewy. Apple pie was a very generous sized portion, but too sweet. Ambience was lacking for an evening meal. I had to move after the waiter put me right next to the service counter, where waiters noisily sorted cutlery and crockery.

I was invited for Afternoon Tea here by friends while on a trip to Hong Kong. The whole experince was memorable, from the moment I entered. The maitre d', Terry, was incredibly attentive and went the extra mile to make it an unforgettable afternoon. The Mandarin is the only place for Afternoon Tea when in Hong Kong.

The cafe inside Mandarin Oriental is not cheap as to be expected. Service is very professional. The interior is full of natural light, chairs are comfy, and lots of beautifully patterned spheres/lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The menu has a select few dishes from varying cuisines. Asian (Indian, Japanese, Chinese)/Western (British, Italian, American) Penang Cha Kwai teow $258. For the... More

Beautiful location but had to ask for everything TWICE!! Seems to be resting on the reputation of the hotel. There were plenty of staff but no one seemed to be waiting on tables. So disappointing

We ate Dinner before leaving for the airport. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly and the quality of the food was very good. All prepared and presented well. This is a good option for less formal dining in the wonderful MO hotel. It did get busy later on and service slipped a little as it was more difficult... More

This is a very choice venue for lunch or high tea. We had the latter this time. You can choose a full set or just individual dishes. Coffee is superb. Service is professional although a bit hard to get hold of to add to the order. Apart from the iconic Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon (where the wait can be punishing)... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
