We drop by this café for some afternoon tea break after visiting The Peak around 3-4pm. There was queue and not crowded, the usual table sharing as expected. Was told that they are the pioneer for HK ‘silk stocking’milk tea, so we’ve ordered that to go with toast and onion pork chop noodles, typical HK delights. Food was good, will... More

I rarely put up negative comments here unless it is necessary to share with others. This name appeared in almost all foodie list and everyone seems to praise their milk tea. They are said to have invented the nation beloved drink - silk stocking milk tea. This place is accessible from the mid level elevator. If you are looking for... More

Went to Lan Fong Yuen after reading recommendations from various travel brochures and was utterly unimpressed. This typical cha chaan teng may have been visited by many celebrities (evident from the paper clippings pasted at the outlet) therefore attracting a large crowd of tourists. Like most local restaurants in HK, spaces are limited and crowded but sitting with groups of... More

We were taken here by our tour guide Ivan from Big Foot tours. They make an excellent drink that is a blend of coffee and tea, really, it is very good! We also had Hong Kong style French toast with honey and butter spread on top and also grilled chicken and noodles. You will most likely have to share a... More

If you want to experience true local eatery and spirit, this is a must visit. Expect line up but service is fast and table turnaround is very quick. Locals share tables so you won't get a table to yourself which is nice if eating alone. Everyone mind their own business and is truly there to have a quick meal and... More

Favourite place for HongKong style breakfast. We've been there 3 times for a short 4 days stay. Well you must be okay with HongKong style service too...always a queue during peak hours, if pop in around 7ish in the morning, normally no need to wait or share table with strangers without asking you. Gluten free options limited but available. Super... More

My wife and I have not heard of this place before but we walked by one day and saw the long line of people waiting for a table, and decided to give it a try. Here are my observations: Food: Be sure to try the french toast and the buttered toast as the bread they use was fresh and had... More

I was recommended to try this shop famous milk tea. My friend tried it at least more than 5 years ago and he said it was good. There was limited space for manoeuvring by the workers as all the tables are stacked closed to one another. Not really a problem for us . We arrived around 9.30am and some meals... More

Googled breakfast spots and this popped up. Took a short walk from the hotel and found it tucked behind some street vendors. We were quite early so there was no line. The french toast was really delicious and the milk tea was great too. Ended up having 2nd orders.

Expect the unexpected. A proper scolding from the staff for not speaking the native language, while paying a premium for instant noodles. This not to be missed tourist trap is a must go for the full Hong Kong experience.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
