Friends who have lived in HK for over 40 years took me here for dinner as they know owners and its one of their favorites. Some would call it dated but I was delighted to be transported to THE place in days gone by. Many "old standard" fine dining menu choices from steaks and seafood to pasta and salads.Enjoyed my... Jimmy's Kitchen is a classic spot on the island and also has a branch on the Kowloon side. The dining room here is very old school and makes you feel you are somewhere fairly stately. Before dinner, sit down in the deep red leather chairs at the bar and enjoy a drink before heading into the main restaurant. The steaks... More

I regret to say that in modern Hong Kong Jimmy's is far from the place it once was . No longer bursting at the seams at lunchtime both the decor and the menu suggest that the place has seen better days and the reality is that while the menu is extensive the food is of average quality and there are... Tried for a walk in table for 2 at lunchtime on weekday. Knew the chance was slim but JIMMY'S is one of our family favorites for 40+ years, 3 generations. Wasn't prepared for the very rude and gruff rejection from the old guy maitre D. He was patronizing and seemed only interested in business from people he recognized or regulars.... More

Just walking in gives you an idea of what Hong Kong used to be like, perhaps mid twentieth century. We had a good meal, with a fairly traditional menu. The food was done well, and the service was attentive and fast.

Years ago dining at Jimmys was special. We enjoyed it last night although it was not as good as I remember it. The decor is very nice and the service was very good...it was not full. The food was ok but nothing special. We all had something different and all came to the same conclusion, very nice venue but the... More

I've been visiting Jimmy's Kitchen in Central for years during regular trips to Hong Kong and it never fails to please. Jimmy's Kitchen Central has been serving international food since 1928 and is a Hong Kong culinary institution. It's a taste of old Hong Kong with historic photos decorating the walls and the menu boasts a range of classic international... More

If you're looking for traditional British Sunday roast, then I suggest you avoid this place. A few points listed: - incredibly rude manager/supervisor: generally the service was rather terrible, however the manager was the worst of the lot - cold food - Yorkshire pudding was sweet - vegetable were over cooked - horrendously overpriced Certainly won't be returning.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
