Had a wonderful lunch at Amber. They have a 3 or 4 course set lunch which in the context of Amber and HK restaurants is good value for the quality of food, the service and the overall experience. The bread was excellent, my starter of mushrooms was a bit disappointing and lacked flavour. Fortunately the Dory was flavourful and cooked... More

Everybody says you have to pass here. Superb food indeed. But the servants could be much better especially faster. 20 minutes waiting on a coffee for breakfast is even for me very long.

We went here for our anniversary dinner. The food is unbelievable and the chef gives you lots of courses that even though the portions are small... you will be full by the end. They even gave us an anniversary cake (organized by our hotel without asking) Amazing taste sensations! The artichoke truffle to die for! As is every single thing... More

We were here for my wife's birthday and the place did not disappoint. The ambiance was fantastic and the dinner menu very good. They are flexible with eating preferences and are very good in explaining the dishes that come out. They were also gracious enough to give a nicely decorated cake for my wife to enjoy and would definitely be... More

This was my second time at Amber, the first one was a year ago and the last one a few days back and I have to say the evolution in the direction the menu has been, is remarkable. To be honest, a year ago wasn't that great but my last visit was superb from every aspect of it, presentation, flavour... More

The Chef Richard Ekkebus is a poet and the dream he puts in each plate is unlimited. It's been a long time since I had been surprised like that by exquisite flavors. I recommend to have the degustation menu which is a wonderful culinary journey. You definitly have to taste the Hokkaido Sea Urchin dish with lobster jell-o with cauliflower... More

I went there for a lunch with my friend who came from Australia who is also a chef there ... service was good but food wasn't as good as expected. I had a line caught sea bream for my main course,it was totally plain and there was big and small green dots all over half of the plate which made... More

From the server to the sommelier, they are the best. Having this quality, I would not consider they are pricey.

Despite the fact that it was listed among the best 50 in the world on the S.Pellegrino's list and stocked at Michelin two stars for year, I found it less than impressive. It does have a wonderful, mesmerizing view of the Hong Kong city light from your dining table, assuming you have a good one, but other than that, the... More

After many years, I finally visited Amber, courtesy of a generous client. The lunch set menus were anything but cheap, but beautifully presented in a lavish service with a small army of waiters and waitresses. The interior design is exquisite, more Manhattan or Tokyo than Hong Kong, subdued with a soft gold light with red overtones. My only complaint is... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
