Nan Tei on Staunton Street, is a very good yakitori restaurant, keeping the standards of the previous Nanbantei of Tokyo. A visit to Hong Kong is not complete without a meal or two at Nan Tei. I like their location on Staunton, as SoHo is a magical dining area. When I first experienced yakitori in Japan, 36 years ago, I... More

This is a great little yakatori place - meat and vegetables on skewers cooked over a grill. Lamb chops were awesome. Chicken wings well seasoned and cooked. Ginkgo nuts a recent find for me - but very nice. Vegetables great - especially with the house special sauce. Place is looking a little run down but that adds to the charm.... More

For a lunch set Nan Tei is pretty good value. Have been now on a couple of occasions and not been disappointed. A set typically will have a small salad, miso soup, a runny egg in a light sauce which I threw into my rice bowl and some ginger. The rice bowl IS NOT SMALL. Choices of beef, chicken, eel,... More

Great place to go for something different in soho. Friendly staff and not bad value, some of the dishes are excellent. Worth a visit for a casual dinner.

Yakitori in Japan is always very good a good value. Outside Japan it is very much hit or miss, mostly miss. That's why it's great to find a good Yakitori place in SOHO Hong Kong. The food is very good, the service is good too although English communication takes a bit of listening and ordering very precisely. All the dishes... More

Great dinner out. The food is delicious, service is also really good and prices a re correct. Will definitely be back. Only the fresh eel was a bit disappointing, but apart this everything perfect.

Two words: Quail Eggs. They were incredible! Among many other great dishes, we ended up ordering a second round because everything tasted so good. The ambiance was nice and the service was good. Great value for the money as well. One of my favourite places in Hong Kong.

The atmosphere is always quite lively. Generally the quality of the ingredients is good and well prepared even if unfortunately they tend to use way too much salt!

Small but great place, friendly service and overall good food. Chicken wings, aubergine, tofu, cod, mushrooms, ox tongue all extremely tasty. Good option on Staunton Street.

Friends took us here and we had a "happy" dinner along with good beer and sake. Dinner was lots of tasty kebab style meat, friend calamari, fish, etc. everything was tasty. Service good. Worth going. Enjoyable.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
