Located near the Kraton, Gadri Resto has the best coffee in Indonesia. Try Cafe Latte or iced coffee, they are both delicious.

This restaurant is located inside the house of Prince Joyokusumo's, and you can visit the house, which is a small museum. I started walking around and found myself in the kitchen of the house where two lovely ladies were having dinner. They were extremely nice and replied to all my questions, really felt welcome. I was particularly impressed by the... More

This restaurant-cum-private museum is situated a short walk from the entrance to the palace (kraton) of Sultan Hamengkubowono X. It was opened in 1984 by H.R.H. Prince Joyokusumo, the Sultan's younger brother and houses his amazing private collections which restaurant guests may freely admire. Tempting local dishes on the menu.

For the price and 'royal' experience, you would expect better flavors and variety. It had a limited menu and not so fresh food. However, i did finally get to taste the Bir Java (non alcoholic) and it was nice to see the museum and enjoy a quiet ambience.

Had lunch after visiting local sights very impressed with food and device. Not an extensive menu but good food. Big bonus you are allowed to visit several museum type rooms attached to the restaurant which give an insight into Javanese culture.

This is also a museum not just a restaurant: We enjoyed so much the insight to a Javanese royal household that we spent here more than two hours.

With it's price, location, and name, dining in this restaurant is a bit disappointing. The food is not really fresh, even though it is still taste good and unique. My wife ordered drink called "Taman Sari" that somehow it's milk didn't blend with rest of the drink. Table set is also not taken care carefully. The restaurant environment itself is... More

Stayed at the Griya Wijilan, which is within walking distance. Found Gadri Resto while searching on the internet for places to go, places to eat, etc. They have a pretty good menu catering for both Western food and Indonesian food. Went back a second time. I had the spaghetti bolognaise and the bakmi goreng. Both very delicious and reasonably priced.... More
