We had an amazing lunch experience at Whitegrass a couple of weeks ago. I went to Whitegrass for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday a month ago and we enjoyed it so much that I took my family there for lunch. The food and service are impeccable and we had a fine gastronomic journey. The service team, helmed by Wendy, was friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly enjoyed sharing details about the unique cuisine with guests.
The chef is young and unassuming, and hugely talented. The food was presented with a high level of finesse and the entire menu stands very well together. Stand-out items in particular are the amadai fish, the braised beef, the eggplant and tuna, and the muscat dessert. The breads, as others have noted, is hard to resist (despite the reminders by the staff not to fill up on bread!). This restaurant seems to be underrated at the moment (and prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food), but it may not be long before foodies (and the star) catches on. Kudos to Chef Yamashita and his team!!!

We've shared your detailed comments with Wendy, Chef Takuya, and the rest of the team; they were thrilled to hear you thoroughly enjoyed our Amadai fish, the bread (we always have to remind ourselves not to fill up on bread too), and our service style.
We truly appreciate you sharing the experience with your family, as we all know how precious family time can be.
We definitely look forward to seeing you again soon.

My partner and I had lunch on a weekday afternoon to celebrate his birthday, and we opted for the 5-course lunch menu at $118/pax (before taxes). Being our first time trying out Japanese-French fusion food, we were not sure what to expect initially. But it turned out to be an excellent lunch and we enjoyed each and every course!
In particular, the freshly baked complimentary bread (focaccia + sesame bread + financiers) really topped the experience. I mean, who knew bread could taste this good?! ;)
The chef himself came out to wish my partner a happy birthday in person when dessert was served. We thought that was a nice personalised touch. Service was good as well although we had some trouble hearing the descriptions of the food through the server's mask (not their fault of course!).
Overall, would recommend this place to anyone who is celebrating a special occasion.

Came here with my hubby to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the recommendation of our friend and were totally blown away by every aspect of the experience. It wasnt just merely a meal in itself but an experience entirely. Thanks to Naz, we had a humorous evening peppered with some jokes and banters, and the staff team did an amazing job in dishing out the food pipping hot! Often times paying even in some of the top notched restaurants in Singapore, some even with Michelin stars didnt come close to the sort of food and service Whitegrass provided. Chef Takuya came out with our dessert dish and had a chat and even indulged us in a photo. One of the less pretentious and humble places I've been to in a long time, with food that can knock off stars from some of the other Michelin complacent restaurant with snotty attitudes.
Food - exceptional and refreshing. Quality ingredients and techniques of preparation. Our favourites were the foie gras, sea bream, iberico presa, the breads and financier!
There was even a farewell gift, with chef Takuya bidding us goodbye and wishing us a happy anniversary!
Certainly gonna be my pick for celebrations in the future and a big thank you to chef Takuya, Naz and team for the memorable evening.

The service at Whitegrass was exceptional. From the pre-meal till we left, everything was well taken care off. The service staff were very professional. My boyfriend and I opted for a 5 course Degustation Dinner. The pre-meal appetiser was a good start to the meal. Next, the unassuming bread that was served was memorable. In fact, there were 2 sets of bread that were served that night, and we both loved them. The Hokkaido Crab was the highlight for my boyfriend, while I enjoyed the fish, line-caught and flown from Japan according to the manager.
We opted to open a bottle of wine instead of the pairing. The sommelier recommended us 2 wines and we went with the Amanore. It was great.
Chef came out to meet us when dessert was served. He was a pleasant man and we felt the sincerity from the person and from the food.

We had an amazing lunch experience at Whitegrass. We had the Creative Set - the ingredients were fresh and the dishes well executed. The Omi Wagyu beef was amazing, so were the Jeju abalone with mushroom and hokkaido crab with amera tomatoes. The amadai skin was ultra crispy yet the meat just nicely cooked - the squid ink sauce which accompanied it was good but felt abit overpowering for the excellent fish but this could be a personal preference. Quite often we were disappointed by desserts, but we were so glad the meal at Whitegrass ended memorably with a simple but superb cherry tart paired with refreshing sorbet!
We also brought our 8 and 10 year old as it was a birthday celebration. The restaurant was most accommodating and thoughtful, and very kindly offered us a shorter 3 course option for the kids at a wallet friendly price. We appreciate it very much as we wanted to have the kids around without breaking the bank. The kids enjoyed their lunch just as much. They were also served amuse bouche and financier, ultimate pamper for everyone.
We looked forward to tasting more of the young and promising Chef Takuya's cuisine!

Wonderful service and food! Every dish was on point, thoughtful, and very very tasty. The two types of bread were to die for (and I'm not even a bread person)
It was a little sad that we were the only guests in the restaurant because of the coronavirus situation. PM Lee had also just announced stricter measures in Singapore so the restaurant may have to close for a month. I'd strongly recommend anyone to visit when they open again though.
Shout out to Chef Takuya for being an absolute artist in his food, and Wendy Lim and her colleague (did not catch her name) for excellent and thoughtful service throughout the evening. A truly splendid meal!

Had a really good lunch today. Their manager (Wendy & Vincent) and staff were really friendly and detailed with the menu explanation of each dish, it was like dining at a friend's house with a personal chef. We could tell that the chef really takes pride in his food from the selection of ingredients used. We had the special 55th national day menu and all the dishes were very well executed from the ambuse bouche to dessert.
Special mention to their pastry chef that we got to meet too, I loved all the bread (best foccacia & sesame brioche!) + dessert! Will definitely return again.

We decided to have our department gathering at this lovely restaurant and the entire dining experience was fantastic.
The presentation and taste of every course was exquisite, clearly prepared with a high level of professionalism and attention to details. With the coda of the freshly-baked financiers, one could not have asked for a more memorable way of concluding a meal.
And to Wendy and her team, we would like to express our appreciation for their impeccable service.
Thank you all and we look forward to going back again! :)

Having been a fan of the original Whitegrass under Sam Aisbett, I came prepared for an inventive, nuanced, sensitively executed experience.
Unfortunately I came away disappointed. From the amuse bouce on, the executive lunch (for which my companion had the vegetable options and I the seafood and meat choices) felt—and even sometimes looked—blunt, heavy-handed, even stodgy, with muddied flavours.
We were also served desserts that weren’t what we ordered, and at one point plates were laid out and then taken away before anything had been served!
We did note the excellent sesame bread and financier, which were highlights of the meal—but is this a fine dining establishment or a gourmet bakery?
It’s hard to consider a return visit until the menus are reworked, the service refined, and the execution perfected. Time for Whitegrass 3.0?

The family brought me here for my surprise birthday dinner. The meal from start to finish was exquisite. The table service was very personal with just the right touch of humor to enhance the experience. The decor was beautiful and classy.
The highlight for me was the breads, made super fresh and served hot at the table. One was a double-baked crispy focaccia (never seen anything like it before; no inclusions, just flavour, dome-shaped and crispy on the outside). The other was a black sesame brioche. I was told these breads were made just for each reservation and tasted best when consumed fresh.
The financier, served with hojicha mochi, was also beautiful made. The beef was tender and melted in the mouth and oyster very fresh. It’s obvious that the ingredients used were of the finest quality. The menu changes every quarter.

Booked out Whitegrass restaurant for an event and couldn’t be more pleased with the overall ambience, amazing food and impeccable service. From planning the event to actual execution, Vincent, Wendy and Chef Takuya always patiently listened to our needs and advised accordingly based on their wealth of experience.
Vincent was always enthusiastic to suggest and recommend wines which eventually turned out to fit our occasion perfectly. Wendy first received us when we approached the restaurant to enquire about holding our event there, and it definitely left an impression on us which set our mind on choosing the place for the celebration. Chef Takuya and Vincent themselves took time to sit down with us to fine tune the menu, the overall order of events, logistics and wine selection. It was to the extent of crafting a children’s menu for the few kids that attended the event (at a French restaurant!). Although the food served at our event was tailored, it was heavily based on the uncompromising style of Chef Takuya and Whitegrass, and were of consistently fine, high quality ingredients.
Whitegrass had staff who are clearly well experienced in their delivery of the event. Although the scale of the event required more work operationally, the quality of food was not compromised and our guests all highly complimented each course afterwards.
Thankful for the memorable experience and would say that the place has that special ‘X factor’ that sets them apart from other fine dining places these days. Needless to say, will be back for more of Chef Takuya’s creations and Vincent’s fine selection of wines and sakes.

Their dining room was a quiet European elegance, tables well spaced out. Good warm friendly attentive service, personal visits from the chef, detailed explanations of each dish and how to appreciate it best. The dishes were creative, tasty and portions healthy. Subtle and well balanced. Loved how they included vegetables in each dish. The breads were unique and delicious! The desserts were also memorable, especially the financier and the goat panna cotta.

We had memorable dining experiences in Whitegrass in the earlier years when it was a mod Australian restaurant with exquisite creative (and pricy, but boy were they good) cuisine, and we missed it when it closed down. This was the first time we're back at Whitegrass after it reopened with new chef at the helm, so we were prepared to for a different experience. Indeed it was different, but happily it was still excellent.
We had the executive lunch, and chef showcased dishes which nicely married quality seasonal ingredients from Japan like aori ika (squid) and Europe like iberico jamon , with French techniques. We can't fault any of the dishes from amuse bouche to the soups/appetizers to mains and mignardise. And as many other reviews have highlighted also, the bread (both types) here were amazing as well.
If one expects adventurous food a la the past Whitegrass, one may not find it anymore, but in its place instead are very well executed dishes which are still refreshingly novel and delicious. Especially, at the price, to us the dishes we had were very high value and we are hard-pressed to think of equally-high quality food in the same price range. It does tempt us to try chef's more extensive menu such as dinner and see if chef will outdo himself further.
Their menu is seasonal so I expect what we had (winter menu) will no longer be available soon, but we particularly liked the aubergine, the humble falafel which they somehow elevated to be the most delicious we ever had, and both our desserts (rhum/coffee and sake pear desserts).

i haven’t been to Whitegrass for awhile and was surprised by its newly designed menu for all good reasons.
cuisine was a nice balance of french n jap, not pretentious n very relatable. rich flavours with a nice surprise (dew raindrop, wild mushroom consommé, etc) n fish (forgot to take pic!!!) was excellent. bread normally forgettable was paid respect n love both types of home made bread, butter was definitely a win! wrapping up lunch was fresh baked Financier worthy of every calories.
great presentation, fair pricing in a beautiful setting. will surely return n try dinner 😋
