About
Blu Kouzina, a favourite destination for authentic Greek cuisine in Singapore for the past few years, is moving to a new location on Dempsey Hill. The new space brings together elements of Greek mythology and design along with Singapore's Chinese heritage and its colonial past. Stepping through the entrance, graced with two Mycaenian Lions, onto the black-and-white tiled floor and surrounded by the decorative Meander pattern, one isn't only transferred to Greece's rich ancient culture. The patterns also strike a familiar tone with designs seen in ancient China as well as Singapore's black-and-white houses. It's a marriage of culture that will make you feel at home as you settle for a culinary adventure a world away. The combination of past and present continues in the menu, where fresh and quality ingredients are used in dishes both traditional and creatively contemporary.

We liked the spacious restaurant and it's rustic decor. It was a Tuesday, the restaurant was quiet and we were seated near the windows. Uncle Bob, the staff were friendly and knowledgable about the food, we were served quickly. Though we had an idea of what we wanted, Uncle Bob added a recommendation of the Paidakia (Grilled Lamb) which turned out flavourful and tender. The portions were a decent size, enough to share, everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. We loved that they reminded us to enjoy the food, to not rush, and checked to see if we needed anything at regular intervals. A few friends had warned us service was inconsistent, Singaporeans tended to be ignored by the staff (which is typical of Expat enclaves) but honestly, today we didn't feel any evidence of this. We ordered 6 dishes and 1 Dessert : Moussaka, Saganaki with Figs, Artichoke Salad, Taramasalata, Xtapodi (Grilled Octopus), Paidakia (Grilled Lamb), Bougatsa (Dessert), 2 Coffees and 2 Teas 4 persons, the total Lunch bill was SGD $265. We are totally satisfied customers !

Well, I'm born-and-raised Southeast Asian so I have no business claiming what is authentic greek cuisine or not. But I roughly know what I'm craving when I say I'm craving "Mediterranean": the grilled seafood, barbecued meats, the hummus, the use of yoghurt, the gentle spices etc. Blu Kouzina staffs excellent waiters and managers who are polite, thoughtful and know their wine. The decor is homey, rustic yet polished. The restaurant gives off an unpretentious air. Food tastes like a solid 7/10 and portions were fair for what they were priced at. Give it a shot!

Book a table for 5 yesterday to celebrate my friend birthday. Staff was friendly and accommodating from reception till dining to the end. Staff was patiently waiting and encouraging us to buy more Chope vouchers (save more) to settle the bill. The boss also gave my friend a surprise chocolate cupcake and sang birthday song for him. Food was very nice especially the lambs and Octopus. The boss also help to divide the takeaway whole baklava as my colleagues and me want to buy home and share it.

This was the second visit with my family. First time there was a lot to recover from so I sent there with an open view. The property has quite a big footprint for a location like Dempsey and maybe our seating in the main dinning area just by the entrance was not the best as it was stuffy and noisy. Food menu is extensive but I noticed the waiters didn't offer to explain much and we hard to get their attention. What detracted from the experience which is a common issue is that the occasionally you had some service staff walking around shouting at the others as to the orders and they didn't really seem to care that the were among clients. Fine in Hawker centers not in a place where the bill will be 200$+ a shot. Overall the food was nice but again more help from the staff to improve the Greek experience would have made it so much better - especially when I compare it to similar sized restaurants in Sydney, Durban, China etc Lastly when you have kids order ice cream as dessert don't assume they don't have a voice. Dropping two shop packs of Haagen Dasz on to the table along with the comment "spoons inside" means you don't care for them and have you ever tried to take it out when its rock solid frozen!! How much effort would it take to put in a bowl and given them a proper spoon? So Effort is the word I will finish my review on - the restaurants needs more because good food only doesn't cut it to make it worthwhile to come back.

We dined here on the weekend with friends for lunch and had a terrible experience. We waited an hour before anyone even took our order. We sat outside and perhaps we were missed with our location as the table next to us was equally frustrated and was up 3 times to call a waiter. The food was mediocre, the calamari was chewy, the lamb was under cooked and overall it was not worth the money. The toilet facilities were appalling and not clean at all. someone had obviously been sick in the one hand basin and not cleaned. I would think with Covid, outlets would be encouraging repeat business and ensuing service levels are high, this was not the case. We has asked to see the Manager and no one bothered to even come. We will not be back, nor would we recommend. The entire experience was most underwhelming...

Went on Sat night, 29 Feb, a party of 5. Nice ambience and foOd portion was large. Order 2 lamb chops $36 each), 2 grilled octopus $39 each And a beef kebab $20. Used the entertainer app to get 5 for the price of 3. Usually entertainer app charges the most expensive item and gives the cheapest as free. In this case, our discount should have been $20 kebab plus $36 lamb chop ($56) in total. The restaurant punched in as $46 for the discount - so we were given $10 less - not sure if this was a genuine mistake made on their end or they were trying to get away with murder. We only checked the bill again the next day only to realise the mistake made. We wrote an email to them on Sunday and no response on a Tuesday. I think the service recovery is truly bad. Probably won't go back again and I urge all dinners to check your bill very carefully. Won't go back again.

Been here a number of times before and always have had a good experience. Really disappointed after today’s dinner. Food was good, but service quality has definitely gone downhill and is not expected from an upmarket restaurant like Blu Kouzina. Number of glitches in the service tonight: 1. Took about 15 minutes to be seated despite making a reservation. If you know Friday nights are busy, why have only one person doing temperature and other required checks? 2. Why have paper menu for drinks and online menu for food? Achieves nothing! On top of it, you have removed some of the dishes and made the menu more confusing. You have removed chicken kebab from the menu and replaced it with chicken skewer which is double the size of kebab and price. When someone asks for chicken kebab, your staff should at least some courtesy to say that it is not on the menu anymore; instead of recommending the new dish without telling its twice in size and price 3. There was delay in service right from the mains till the cheque; and delay in clearing used plates. If it’s a mid tier restaurant, I can understand it, but is appropriate in context of the prices you are charging. 4. There was 1 server attending to a section with 9-10 tables and doing everything from taking orders, bringing food, clearing tables, etc. While she may be trying her best, obviously it was causing delays. If you know Friday’s are busy, why not have adequate staff? 5. It’s very apparent that you have reduced the sizes of the various dishes and increased the prices. Greek yoghurt was $10 before. Now it’s $11, but the size of yoghurt and honey bowl has reduced. You have dropped one of the toppings. A lot of above is not acceptable from an upmarket restaurant.

Been going to blu kouzina since they had their branch at Bukit Timah almost a decade ago. Unfortunately, service was lacking during this visit. Made a booking, but restaurant seemed to be understaffed at the welcome desk. Had other patrons who decided to just walk in instead of queuing like the rest of the line, but no one to stop them. Finally got seated at our table but had a waitress that seemed to be completely drained and uninterested to provide any semblance of service. Our orders were taken with what felt like a breath of disdain. Food was served as though it was prison slop. Same waitress also stepped on my brother in law’s food without any apology. For the price and quality of food (which was good), you’d think service was a given. Decided not to stay for dessert and went over to PS cafe. Completely different experience, and with the previous service at Blu Kouzina, it was delightful. Perhaps she was having a bad day? I don’t believe it was hard to have unimpressive, or forgettable service, which I wouldn’t mind. But bad service stays a lot longer in the memory and honestly, leaves a taste in your mouth that the good food can’t quite overcome.

Overall bad experience. Service was really bad, I pretend to be served by happy people for the amount of money I spend, it is their duty, isn’t it? Moreover food is not worth it, you can get much better Greek food in town for the same price. Avoid.

The Greek food is as always, fresh and authentic. I have been 3 time’s before and found the service to be average. This however will be my last visit. The service this time was very poor. We waited 15 minutes after being seated before anyone attended to us. The order was not repeated to us, and so an incorrect dish was later bought out. It was close to 9pm when we ordered. After each course the plates were not cleared and service was just inattentive. At 10pm, we were handed a tray with no bill inside and asked for our cards.. as we were mid meal we asked if we could have 5 minutes to finish our mouthfuls. A manager was then sent out and we were informed all bills must be settled at 10pm. We were not informed of this on arrival and hadn’t been given an official “bill” anyway. The Govt rule is 10.30pm to have things cleared. Blu Kouzina is 10pm on bill and at 10.15pm they demanded our wine glasses. Just be aware, if you really want to go and have time to eat, book a very early table and ask to see the actual bill. I felt so rushed to leave I only looked at the receipt when we left, and realised they charged us for the dish we did not order or eat. Probably why we never got a bill, just a “receipt” wrapped around the credit card after we had paid. I won’t be recommending anymore or returning.

Went for my husband's birthday and the staff were completely untrained and unprofessional. they took plates away while we were actually still chewing on our food and with food still on the plate. We didn't have utensils, menus, glasses or water for a very long time - and had to request each of them individually. No one came over to check on our meal, not once. We ordered the octopus as a main (it was priced as a main, and was in the "mains" section) but it came with nothing else (i.e., no vegetables, on carbs, no side) - a decent waitress would have told us that we would need to supplement. We also asked what the "vegetables of the day" was, and when the dish actually came out, it was nothing like the dish described to us. At one point, they called the spanakopita "samosas" when they unceremoniously plunked it on our table. There was one waitress what was particularly sullen, mumbling and bumbling her way around the room. Its really a pity because actually, the food was quite decent. If only it hadn't been ruined by the horrible waitstaff.

Hi Carolyn Blu Kouzina is an establishment that supports individuals with special needs an unfortunately patrons misinterpret these individuals. Your review only ends up in discouraging these individuals to do their job . We seek your understanding to be more compassionate and compromising to our staff .

Food was good and Dempsey Hill is a beautiful setting but the overall experience of visiting Blu Kouzina is just not enjoyable. The ambiance, service and overall experience is borderline stressful recently. Appreciate there are strict rules for hospitality at the moment due to COVID measure, but this restaurant is implementing them TERRIBLY. This is my second visit since phase II and it will also be my last. On both occasions as soon as we sat we were required to place all and final orders, despite the curfew not coming in to effect for another 2+ hours. The food is thrown at you and we where reminded 5 times during the course of our meal that are table must be cleared by 10.30. Believe me not only are we aware of this but if we were in any doubt we had it drilled in to our brains by the third-fourth-fifth time. After we finished our only bottle of wine before 9pm we were not offered any more; alcohol, soft drinks or hot drinks. We had our bill presented to us, without being asked, even before all of our food had arrived at the table. The operation was militant, and we were made to feel like an inconvenience throughout the entire dinner service. Then finally, when we were ready two leave, around 10.20 we proceeded to call taxis. However the staff turned off ALL of the lights in the entire restaurant, without word or warning. We were in total darkness. When I raised this with our server they were dismissive and blamed the COVID rules even though no other restaurant is this strict. Honestly the entire experience was so unpleasant. We fully abide by all regulations, respect them and understand the struggles hospitality is facing but the staff at this restaurant are just rude and need some re-education in customer service

We have been fans of Blu Kouzina since its beginning in Bukit Timah. The second incarnation at Dempsey was the peak. Everything at this new location, next door to the last one, is in every way a step down, except for the price!! The place is more cramped and more downmarket. The food is haphazard. Some dishes remain excellent, others not so. For instance, the lamb chops, while flavourful, are quite tough. Service staff are friendly, but a bit blurred and overzealous, keen to clear up the plates although we haven’t finished the expensive dishes. At S$140 per pax at lunch, we thought it was poor value. For Mediterranean food, Pistachio at Wheelock Place is better AND better value. For us, Blu has moved from green light to red

Very warm service , very nice decor and very nice food, waiter managed to judge how much we could eat perfectly . Food was served relatively fast and the waiter helped us get to know the food. BTW look out for our waiter Bob, he said that he likes to serve new customers so they get the best out of their experience.

Visited Blu Kouzina on the 7th of March, 8pm. Table of 4. Have been to Blu Kouzina since they had their branch at Bukit Timah. Good food, to settle my Greek cravings, just as I remembered. However, this time around, the service received was not just lacklustre...it was honestly, disappointing. From waiting in a line even though we had a reservation (no one was manning the welcome desk), and having patrons give up and walk in trying to find someone to get them a table, to our “chirpy” waitress. Having forgettable service, or unimpressive service is fine...it gets orders taken, food served and dishes cleared. However, this visit, our waitress made us feel like waiting on tables was draining her life, literally. Orders were taken with a breath of disdain, and food was served on the table with little more care than prison slop. A step on my brother in law’s foot, but no apology or even an “oops”. I guess her heart/mind was not there at all. We decided not to stay for dessert and left for PS cafe instead where the service was a breath of fresh air! All of us commented on the difference in service, and how much more enjoyable the experience was. Even though the food at Blu Kouzina is still as good, the service that day would leave a far longer memory. Hopefully, the restaurant would look into improving their hiring and training processes. Truly a waste of what could have been a great dinner. Food, 4. Service 1.
