Celebrated my birthday with family. Enjoyed the food, service and company. A bit pricey but will come back for special occasions.

Sat at the Teppanyaki counter with plenty of space, often they try to squeeze too many people in. It’s a great way to eat watching an expert cook your food. Food and drinks were excellent

I went to dinner last night with my partner and her daughter looking forward to a Teppanyaki meal. It was the daughters first time for Teppanyaki and she was very excited to go. Upon arrival we were escorted to a private room next door the...main restaurant entrance and a salad quickly arrived - which was a nice start. I ordered a starter of sushi roll to share and 3 Teppanyaki meals (salmon, prawns, beef, chicken, veg, rice). The chef arrived at the hotplate and despite everything else the chef was skilled and friendly throughout the evening. We also ordered a bottle of sake. When the sushi arrived no one brought any soy sauce which we had to ask for after waiting 5 mins. The food itself was very below par for what we paid. The salmon was cooked in a tray of sweet broth and not directly on the grill and was so sweet I could hardly eat it. The rest of the food was extremely bland. We asked if we could get some sesame sauce to which the male waiter replied they dont have any. When I pointed out it was actually on the salad served earlier we disappeared not to return. I then asked another female waiter and she returned with one small dish. When I pointed out there was three of us she went away and returned with 2 other dishes of sesame sauce. We were informed that dessert, which was not specified on the menu, was mango pudding. My partner does not like mango and so we asked if we could substitute with ice cream for her. The waitress said it was not possible. When I insisted she said she would try and get a "very small scoop" .."not a normal scoop" (???). She eventually returned with some ice cream. Throughout the meal I constantly had to refill our sake despite lifting the bottle high enough in front of 3 staff members prior to pouring so they could see it only to see them all just stare at me and do nothing. When asking for the bill the waitress was abrupt throwing it down in front of me accompanied by "check the bill". There was not a please or thank you uttered by the staff the entire evening. All up I spent nearly $400 and received extremely bland food and terribly rude and inattentive service. Do not go to this restaurant!More

Teppanyaki: Tenderloin and wagyu steak were great; wagyu was juicy and melt-in-the-mouth. Must try the foie gras - rich taste, excellent! Sashimi: Tuna fresh and thickly cut. Overall environment was comfortable (teppanyaki counter top and glass were very clean and well maintained - kudos to...staff!), staff were polite and not intrusive.More

I choose Tatsu for my wife birthday celebration and it was perfect! We sat at Sushi counter which was quiet and it suits the occasion. We had salmon and uni Sashimi, the recommended Aburi sushi (yes a definite must try!!) and the wagyu + lobster...Teppanyaki course. All the food taste really really delicious. The complimentary birthday cake is so rich in macha flavour too! Overall, we definitely enjoy our dining experience here and will want to come back again.More

It was past 930pm but the affable manager, Nick, allowed us to have a last bite after my work. They are fully booked for 2 rounds of Teppanyaki (at 630pm and 830pm) for the next few weekendsm At the heart of Chijmes, Tatsu offered very...fresh Japanese food with nice ambience and extremely friendly staff. To expedite things, i quickly ordered within 3 minutes. But being my first time there, i wasn't certain what was good and special. I thus ordered a mixture of cooked and raw food to try everything. Their Hamachi Sashimi was very fresh and tender. Their Beef Sirloin Teppanyaki was cooked just rightly medium rare, as requested! It was not chewy and you could taste the freshness inside as well as the Teppanyaki flavour on the outside. The Salmon Maki was made right in front of me and flamed nicely. While chatting with the Chef, as I was seated right in front, I considered taking over the blowtorch from him. It looked so easy and fun! I also tried their Beef Tongue Garlic Fried Rice, which was delicious and again, not overcooked. Their prices are mid-range and the quality of food was great! When the lockdown is over, I will try to come again. #choowai2021 #wongchoowai #wongchoowaieats #tatsu #tatsujapanesecuisine #japanesefood #beef #teppanyaki #teppanyakigrill #chijmes #chijmessingapore #sashimi #sashimilover #friedrice #garlicfriedrice #maki #dinnertonight #dinnerdate #sgfoodinfluencers #sgfoodbloggers #sgfood #sgfoodie #yummyliciousMore

Considering the price, we didn't expect top notch decor and dining experience but we were disappointed. The restaurant was small and crowded inside. The night we went were 4 groups of guests with 3 chefs. Rather than serving each group individually, we were served by...a factory style cooking whereby one chef cooked the lobster and seafood, one chef cooked the fry rice and the other cooked the wagyu beef. Isn't this similar to food court teppanyaki? The wagyu beef and lobster were cooked stir fried rather than as steak and whole lobster; the centre of the beef was still cold and the lobster meat wasn't crunchy (but lukewarm and soft) and I personally don't like the mornay sauce. I would compliment on the lobster miso soup, it was served hot and not too salty, and tuna sashimi was fresh. Anyway on our way home both my husband and my tummy hurt, we had to rush to the bathroom.More

This is not an authentic Japanese Teppanyaki. Is more like high end Zi Cha at coffeeshop. Service is good, chef is friendly but food is shocking. SDG 128 Vs. SGD 158, only difference is the addition of Lobster. We wanted a nice Wagyu steak so...choose SGD 128 per pax. End up we saw the couple who choose the SGD 158 course have different slab of way better Wagyu steak than us. It was also cook separately. Chef put so much sauce on Scallop and Wagyu steak. If the quality of them are good, there's no need to put so much sauce on it. The assorted mushroom was so salty. No doubt the Set up looks chic but food has to improve a lot more to match up with the appearances. Or probably need not try too hard when is at location to trap tourist? Price of sake is reasonable but very disappointed by the food. We even abandon the last course dessert. We were there 6pm-730pm and left smelling like Teppanyaki. I'll keep supporting local restaurant but probably avoid tourist area (if I can).More

Cooking teppanyaki’ became popular in Japan, after it became trendy in the Western world. For some unknown reason it is considered a novelty to watch the chef at work while you felt the heat on your cheeks. In the States, restaurants that serve teppanyaki style...dishes are called Hibachi or Japanese steakhouses. I had very good yakisoba (noodles), okonomiyaki (cabbage with sliced meat or seafood) and monjayaki.More
