The Order: 2 Starters, 2 Mains and 2 Desserts. Damage: $195.38 for 4.
TLDR: Overpriced, mediocre at best. Good ambience but that's about it.
- STARTER
1) Truffle Shoestring Fries ($14): Smells better than it taste. some fries were over fried. Now, if I'm at...mcdonalds I wouldn't have bothered to mention this. but for $14 and at a highly rated restaurant....
Try: Habitat Coffee, Curious Palette
Friend 1: I rather eat McDonalds.
2) Siracha Cauliflower Mac n Cheese ($14): good crisp from the cheese topping and great smoothness of the cheese in the mac n cheese below. but siracha overpowered here and all I can get from the mac and cheese and siracha and no cheese.
Friend 3: Where is the cheese?
- MAIN
3) Kuhlbarra Barramundi ($44) : Fish serving was quite small, 4 mussels and a thick slice of potato. I don't even know where to begin with this. The fish was cooked well enough, with meat still tender and skin crispy but wow for $44 the quality of the fish is a let down. a neighbourhood zichar can have fresher fish. Sauce was not bad but not that fantastic.
Friend 2: The fish is a disappointment.
4) Iberico Pork Collar ($44): The only good dish of this meal. The pork was cooked to its optimal point, just cooked through. The meat was tender and lightly seasoned, good even without the sauce. On the menu the sauce is kelp butter, but it got a tangy citrusy note to it and a great pairing with the pork. The blackened cabbage was cooked to perfection too. the cabbage was very likely charred which enhances the sweetness of the cabbage itself, while soft still maintained crisp. Overall, a well constructed and executed dish. (We all loved it.)
- DESSERT
5) Mars Bar Souffle ($22): Nicely done, good chocolate sorbet. Overall ok but not particularly fantastic.
Friends 1,2,3 like the chocolate sorbet.
6) Crepe Suzette ($22): I came for this. This is not a dessert dish that can be found easily in Singapore. The yoghurt mousse is great, light on the palette and yet still have some richness to it, well balanced between tart and sweet, went well with the tangerine(?) slices and the sauce. but the crepes were just crepes nothing notable. came together with the souffle so we had that first. Perhaps the reason why the crepes were cold when we tucked into it.
Tip: when asked if you want still or sparkling water: say iced. we paid $9 for a bottle of mineral water that tbh tasted the same.
For such nice picture place, its a shame that photos taken for us were not that great.More
