MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

There are times when nothing hits the spot quite like classic Gallic cuisine, especially when it’s being served in an archetypal bistro setting. Part o...

Very disappointed by the food. The foie gras poêlé was dry which is very surprising for this product, that is usually oily (this is what the “gras” is about). The lobster gniocchi were so so. Final bill was super expensive for this experience. We won’t...come backMore

Food was good but duck was dry and the place is too crammed. Seems like maximising the place for revenue purpose. They do have dishes that they change regularly aside from the ones in the menu.

This was the continuation of Christmas and New Year's celebrations, across what we thought should be some of the best French Food in Singapore. We are huge fans of the French Bistro/Braserie style food. we grew up discovering the classic dishes, and professionally I work...with Chef's creating great new tastes for new food products. So Flavour is my passion, as a professional taster my comments are clearly very accurate. This was the first time to experience this restaurant and also our last! If this is an example of Les Amis, then I will never pay their prices. I expect raw materials sourcing should be the same, as it should be this a more casual version? In which case it is unbelievable how Les amis can get 2 michelin stars? We di not want starters so went straight into mains--they were microwaved!!!!!! Duck confit did not have crispy skin, and the duck itself was dry and tasteless. The beef in red wine was also lacking in rich beefy flavour with thin acidic sauce! We left as soon as we had finished eating. The service was very poor and rushed. seating too close together. In my review of Claudine's they get it exactly right, and guess what we will eat at Odette if this an example of the quality of food, what a contrast!More

Been to bistro du vin many times in the last few years, some dishes have maintained its standard like onion soup and creme brulee but the beef cheek dish has gone down in standards. The dish was too salty and they used to separate the...mash potato from the beef, but it’s now combined into one pot. We also had the soft boiled egg starter - not bad.More

Great restaurant and good authentic bistro. Shame they have ruined the experience though by cramming tables as close together as is humanly possible

We had the three-course set lunch in this small restaurant on 23 May 2022. Service was professional, prompt and unobtrusive. Recommendations made were pretty much on point. We had the traditional French onion soup, the duck leg confit and the chargrilled ribeye. For dessert, we...had the cheese (Comté) and an à la carte chocolate-and-caramel tart. Hands down, the chargrilled Black Angus grain-fed ribeye with the red wine sauce was the highlight of the meal. I really enjoyed it. The chocolate tart, while decadently delicious, was way too rich even for me, a consummate chocolate/dessert fan. Perhaps it would be better paired with a lighter main. Overall, it was an excellent meal, and at great value too. Highly recommended! Très très délicieux et merci beaucoup! Hautement recommandé!More

Small, cosy restaurant with nice and warm decors that were very welcoming. We were greeted at the door by Philippe, the friendly and helpful director of the restaurant who was always on the move and keeping a lookout to make sure our glasses were filled...and orders were ok. Very kind and humble "Mr Bean" indeed! We started with escargot and foie gras infused with pear sauce, both of which were delicate but a tad too bland to our liking. The mains - 280g Steak Frites (I changed the fries to mashed potatoes) and Monk Fish Wellington (outside of the menu) were delicious and cooked to perfection. For desserts we had Crème Brulée (always a classic French I'd order) and the Grand Marnier Soufflé (with orange-flavoured liquor). We love everything about the Crème Brulée but find the alcohol in the Soufflé to be too overpowering. The texture though was perfect. Oh and not forgetting the wondeful rosè we both got to pair with the dishes! Perhaps a little disappointment comes from "nothing" - I indicated earlier that it was a birthday dinner for the missus and I was expecting maybe just a small cake or something to grace the occasion, but nothing was arranged. However we still left the restaurant happy and satisfied! Great work, Philippe and team!More

Walked in without a reservation as we thought the place was not so busy. Were told to wait a few minutes and were given a table soon. The place filled up soon afterwards. The onion soup seemed watered down. The steak frites and beef cheeks...were excellent. Large portions and good flavor. We've ordered similar dishes elsewhere and given this was Singapore, I thought it was good value. Service was fast and efficient. An overall good experience.More

We have eaten here several times for lunch, it's amazing. They have great lunch sets and the service is top class. Phillippe is awesome as well and always friendly and helpful. One of our favorite places for lunch in Singapore. Great job!

My partner arrived and was given a seat in the middle of the restaurant. She wanted a view by the window. Although it was reserved, the owner made a decision to give us that seat. Food wise was impeccable. I had plenty of duck confit...and this was by far the crispiest one. The crunchiness, taste incl, uding the potatoes are excellent. The quality potatoes are crispy on the outside and once you have bitten in, the softness of the inside spill out. Beef cheeks can be pulled apart with a fork or broken up with a spoon. The carrots and onions are amazing too.More

My favourite french casual dining restaurant. To be honest, I wont say all their dishes are good, but of the menu, usually the weekly specials are pretty good and value for money. I love their foie gras, which I think is one of the best...around, so is their stewed beef cheek. I love their desserts, like creme brulee or souflee, and pair with a small glass of digestif, 5yrs Don Papa rum (as recommended by the manager). Very cosy ambience and friendly staff. One of the french restaurants I frequent.More

Nothing French about it apart for the restaurant’s name and menu. Onion soup was very salty and without the usual thick and rich texture, duck leg felt dry and burnt, selection of mature cheeses poor quantity and basic selection. Overall a very disappointing experience for...the price and ambience. Felt more like a TGIF or Nando’s restaurant with a French accentMore

We had been recommended this restaurant by a friend and she was spot on. We had the set lunch which is was great value. We started with the amazing Egg brandade and the potato salad. Both were so good it was worth going just for...them. We then had the Coq au vin and the Snapper Papilotte. Both were tasty and beautifully cooked. All in all a great restaurant with friendly, timely service.More
