Ordered a takeaway to support my local business.
The takeaway menu is misleading don’t fall for it. There is NO 20% discount on the order.
First of all, they got the order wrong.
They forgot the soup so had to wait for it.
So as a result, the food was cold once it was home.
The mushroom and french onion soup was tasty but cold.
The mains dish the lamb confit with ratatouille was missing the jus, and there is no mashed or gratin potato or french beans/ parsley garnish to make the dish look appealing on my plate. And no sides are offered on the menu.
All you get is the lamb (posh version of chilli concarne cooked in a slow cooker, with red wine) which was too rich for the palate and ratatouille because without potato and french beans to mop up the richness, it is not fulfilling on the appetite.
They say they have reduced the price from the restaurant menu but I gather they have removed some ingredients from dishes, and lessened the portion that’s served in the restaurant which I feel is disappointing and I feel cheated.
If you do decide to order, repeat the order as they made a mistake on mine. Staff not attentive
Tip : make your own sides of potatoes or rice and green beans at home which defeats the principle of ordering takeout

Dear Mango,
I’m Philippe Pau Director of Bistro du Vin, I apologise for the delay in reverting to your comments as I needed to investigate fully the circumstances of your unpleasant experience with our takeaway food on Sunday lunch 3 days ago.
I am truly sorry that you were disappointed with your meal on so many level.
Allow me to clarify a couple of misleading statements you made in your review:
We do have a 20% discount highlighted in our menus, however it only applies to any bottle of wine takeaway, it is clearly stated and only appears on the wine and beverage section of our offerings, all our food items have a factored-in 10% discount which of course will not appear in your bill
When you placed your order my colleague took it properly, as soon as we knew your order was about to be ready we called you to inform you it could be collected unfortunately we could only leave a message as you might have been on another call.
When your husband came to collect he added 2 onion soups which as informed by my staff would take an extra 5 min to prepare which he was agréable to wait for, we didn’t omit any item from your original order
As much as we selected the most suitable takeaway containers their heat retention is not the best it would be quite reasonable to assume that by the time you ate those dish the temperature would have lowered quite substantially, requiring reheating ( all our environmental friendly packaging are microwave safe)
For the lamb dish I am terribly sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations and that you felt an additional side dish of any type of carbo should be available.
We had very little time to adapt to the government decision and we tried our best to offer a balanced offering of dishes including some with no gluten, no nuts and vegetarians, I confess that due to time and space restrictions we did not include additional side dishes, we are currently working on this and hope to have this available shortly
I can assure you that by no mean our portioning, quality of ingredients or number of elements of our dish have been reduced in order to potentially increase our margins, being part of Les Amis group we pride ourselves in maintaining a qualitative and quantitative proposal to every guest that support us as we look forward to the day we can reopen for business as usual and we cannot afford to lower or compromise our standards
I assume that when you placed your order you were reading from either the flyers we printed and displayed outside and/or menu posted on social media, for those sadly we didn’t have the possibility to include a photo for each dish, however on the website we took the trouble to take and display a photo so guests could see exactly what each dish would look like.
I can understand that you might not be willing to give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves but should you be so forgiving as to do so please do not hesitate to contact me personally either by phone on 96688923 or by email: philippepau@lesamis.com.sg I’ll be more than happy to handle every aspect of your order so hopefully you can have a much better experience.
I thank you for taking the time and trouble to write your review and I wish you, your family and your friend the very best in those challenging times: stay safe, stay healthy & stay happy.
Sincerely,
Philippe Pau

Great authentic French food. Manager will ask everyone if their food is ok and they provided a handphone stand for patrons. I can't stomach a cheesy pasta dish and he let me have a dessert instead. Great service !

We used to go to Bistro du Vin regularly, as the food is reliable and prices are reasonable. A recent visit confirms why we haven’t been back much in recent years. Service is still fantastic - friendly and knowledgeable - and prices are still reasonable. But the food is only average. There are now many restaurants serving very good, satisfying traditional French food that don’t make a big hole in your pocket.

If you're looking for a good french onion soup in a little cafe that makes you feel like you're in French for a short moment, this is the place for sure. but the salty duck confit brought me back to reality almost instantly. It wasn't my first time there but i have no idea why the duck confit became so bad recently, it was so salty that it was even too much for my friend (who eats really salty food btw) . we did not get to feedback about the duck, nobody asked me how was the meal, or rather nobody asked how was anything. Waiter and waitresses weren't very occupied, but the question wasn't asked during the bill as well. i hope they check what they serve, after all, it's a great french place / atmosphere. The cutleries this time round are kept in a paperbag, makes you feel good that the cutleries aren't touched by many before being served to you.

Felt somewhat like France!
Complimentary bread was hard to bite.(not the crunchy kind of hard.) Had escargots for starters and they were decent. Duck confit and Iberico pork chop for mains, the pork was cooked perfectly, with the sauce and side complementing the meat in harmony. Duck was a little too salty for my liking and the salad with it a little bland, the potatoes were okay though. I ordered the soufflé for dessert and it was definitely one of the better soufflés I’ve had.
Overall a great experience, friendly prices, wonderful atmosphere and good service/food!

We had the set lunch, only the salad and ice nougat impressed us. The rest of the entre and mains were just ok. Salad has a sous egg as dressing, and small pieces of fried pork belly add salty flavours and crispy texture, instead of the usual bacon bits. Ice nougat was recommended by waiter, it’s like nougat ice cream! Raspberry sauce adds tanginess to the dessert, we never had this dessert before!
I gave 4 starts also because the service is good, the staff is knowledgeable about menu items, which is rate in spore, and recommendations were good.

Top drawer French bistro. The Maitre D, Philippe, is a genuine restraunter and about as unstuffy as you can get - this makes guests feel welcome. Service is informal, friendly but reassuringly professional. Unlike most Singapore restaurants there is about a 8-1 diner to serving staff ratio - just as it should be. The food is exhuisite. A nice compact menu keeps it simple. A delight.

My favourite french casual dining restaurant. To be honest, I wont say all their dishes are good, but of the menu, usually the weekly specials are pretty good and value for money. I love their foie gras, which I think is one of the best around, so is their stewed beef cheek. I love their desserts, like creme brulee or souflee, and pair with a small glass of digestif, 5yrs Don Papa rum (as recommended by the manager). Very cosy ambience and friendly staff. One of the french restaurants I frequent.

Singapore may not be where you would expect to enjoy a very French - style restaurant. but Bistro du Vin is such a venue. Food and wine loving local friends recommended we meet there. The welcome was warm and the dining room had a good feel about it, probably as many of the guests were regulars. Our host quickly took us to our table, presented menus and just as quickly had our first wine poured so we could toast our meeting. The wine list has some excellent wines to consider. The medium sized menu had plenty of French classic dishes to choose from; I chose mussels served in a superb "soup" and Coq au Vin and my wife a squid entrée and and duck main course which were matched perfectly with an aged Bordeaux. The crème brulee and Swiss Poire William completed an excellent meal. The restaurant was full and our host kept circulating to ensure that all diners were fully informed on the dishes. It was a seamless meal and I can't until we return to Singapore and Bistro du Vin. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the dishes.

I’ve been searching Asia for good - or even great - French onion soup. A deep broth with almost melted onions. Above all, a thick gooey cheese top which seals the hot soup.
I didn’t quite find the cheese to be thick or gooey enough.

Great service from start to end. Brought me back to a authentic French restaurant in Paris! Food is good and if there is any room for improvement, perhaps the onion soup soup could be thicker. Thanks for the experience and will be back again!

Walked in without a reservation as we thought the place was not so busy. Were told to wait a few minutes and were given a table soon. The place filled up soon afterwards. The onion soup seemed watered down. The steak frites and beef cheeks were excellent. Large portions and good flavor. We've ordered similar dishes elsewhere and given this was Singapore, I thought it was good value. Service was fast and efficient. An overall good experience.

Nothing French about it apart for the restaurant’s name and menu. Onion soup was very salty and without the usual thick and rich texture, duck leg felt dry and burnt, selection of mature cheeses poor quantity and basic selection. Overall a very disappointing experience for the price and ambience. Felt more like a TGIF or Nando’s restaurant with a French accent

My partner arrived and was given a seat in the middle of the restaurant. She wanted a view by the window. Although it was reserved, the owner made a decision to give us that seat.
Food wise was impeccable. I had plenty of duck confit and this was by far the crispiest one. The crunchiness, taste incl, uding the potatoes are excellent. The quality potatoes are crispy on the outside and once you have bitten in, the softness of the inside spill out. Beef cheeks can be pulled apart with a fork or broken up with a spoon. The carrots and onions are amazing too.

Small, cosy restaurant with nice and warm decors that were very welcoming. We were greeted at the door by Philippe, the friendly and helpful director of the restaurant who was always on the move and keeping a lookout to make sure our glasses were filled and orders were ok. Very kind and humble "Mr Bean" indeed!
We started with escargot and foie gras infused with pear sauce, both of which were delicate but a tad too bland to our liking. The mains - 280g Steak Frites (I changed the fries to mashed potatoes) and Monk Fish Wellington (outside of the menu) were delicious and cooked to perfection. For desserts we had Crème Brulée (always a classic French I'd order) and the Grand Marnier Soufflé (with orange-flavoured liquor). We love everything about the Crème Brulée but find the alcohol in the Soufflé to be too overpowering. The texture though was perfect. Oh and not forgetting the wondeful rosè we both got to pair with the dishes!
Perhaps a little disappointment comes from "nothing" - I indicated earlier that it was a birthday dinner for the missus and I was expecting maybe just a small cake or something to grace the occasion, but nothing was arranged.
However we still left the restaurant happy and satisfied! Great work, Philippe and team!
