It was during Covid-19 'lockdown' so we ordered the two persons set and chose to pick it up. Would say the taste was good enough for us to want to try at the restaurant itself when we can. However, would agree with one reviewer who noted the food was on the expensive side. I wasn't sure if the small amount was because it was a two person(s) set but noted the other reviewer who ordered from the menu had the same comment. While the duck was generous (we had three fairly decent pieces each), the sotong amount was rather miserable. It was enough for two people, but if I had to pay the $20 stated in the menu, I would feel it is too expensive. Besides, sotong is not expensive when we buy it ourselves to cook from the market.

This restaurent is centrally located along Orchard Road. The biggest problem we had was the high level of noise- it spoiler my husband’s mood which impacted our enjoyment of the meal. The service was initially inattentive and disinterested. The food, however, was very good. Some dishes were outstanding - like the sotong Hitam, Sambal sotong Buah Keluak, rendang, Pong Tauhu, and petai. The Chendol dessert was tasty and not too sweet - the green chendol noodles was particularly yummy! Note that the Petai bean dish was extremely delicious but super spicy.

Hubby and I passed Bonding Kitchen several times at Orchard Geteway but this is the first time we came for lunch with another couple.
Ordered Ngoh Hiang, Chap Chye, Wagyu beef rendang, ayam buah keluak, Assam fish and sotong masak hitam.
Servings are small and prices are quite steep. For $19 for a plate of chap chye, it is ridiculously expensive. I generally love beef rendang but the rendang here @ $35 lacked the oomph and lemak taste of beef rendang so this was a letdown. Ayam buah keluak is usually served with a few of the nuts with chicken, but here, they are missing. Instead, a tiny spoonful of the flesh was placed on a spoon. The taste of the 5 pieces of Ngoh Hiang was ok, as were the fish assam and sotong masak hitam. Not rave-worthy!

Friends and I chanced upon this restaurant and decided to give it a go. We ordered the usual peranakan fare like ngoh hiang, sotong hitam etc. Nett, food taste decent but portions are miserable. For example Ngoh Hiang is $14, you get 5 thin slices of about 2cm X 0.5cm, that is about $3 per tiny slice!!. Sotong Hitam at $20 gives you about 2 heaped tablespoons of food including the decorative condiments. Kangkong $10 is another meagre 3 tablespoons of kangkong leaves. For the meat dishes, each of us need to take careful small chunks just to make sure at least the others get a small piece to try. After spending about $200, we girls are nowhere near full. So, we call it quits and adjourned for more real food. If you like pretty looking food then this place is for you...For us, we will stick to the many other good Peranakan joints for now, till Bonding Kitchen can seriously serve meals that are meant for eating and not just for looking/tasting.

Already visited a few times, still picked the same main dish, barramundi fish assam pedas, the fish is always very fresh and the assam not too spicy, just right for me.
The chendol was nice but nothing special, at SGD7 each, unlikely to repeat this order,I adjusted the sweetness level myself, probably a wise decision. My first time ordering this.
Nice ambience and friendly customer service.

This is by far one of the best Peranakan food I have tasted so far! The chendol is the bomb! We ordered Assam pedas, beef rendang and mixed vegetables for 2 pax sharing. Honestly speaking, it’s really not cheap but we don’t mind paying because it’s just too good and left us with good return reviews on this heavenly atas “chai fan” in local context!

We were looking for local restaurants on our Singapore holiday. BK was a 5 minute walk from our accommodation. Clearly it is a favourite with the locals as it was packed out on Monday night.
I wish we had taken some photos of the food & drinks, however, the photos on the menu are a very good representation of what is served.
The staff were delightful, we enjoyed the interesting drinks & tea, the food was magnificent. The Wagyu Beef Rendang, Kueh Pie Tee & Crab Meat Masak Lemak Kunyit, were all exceptional.
Well worth visiting if you are look for a great dining experience in the Orchard Rd area.

Very delicious Peranakan food! Definitely good for introducing friends overseas to Peranakan cuisine, catering to young and old. Good place to catch up with friends too. Waiting time was good, did not have to wait long, and portion sizes were nice too!
Bought the set for 4, portions were good for 4 pax

Food is not bad but portion is not big for the price. I love the different chilli for the different dishes, if you are a chilli lover you'll appreciate this cox like me, you might have been to restaurants where the same chilli is used to cook different dishes and the dishes ended up tasting the same.
The Beef Rendang, Assam Fish and Sotong dishes are good. Kueh Pie Tie and the crackers are not bad cox the chilli for both dishes are nice. Kang Kong and Chap chye are ok. Ngoh Hiang is a no go. And Chendol is not as good as we think.
Overall, I enjoyed the food but probably won't be a frequent patron as the food though nice, is not a big pull enough given the price and portion.

One of the better peranakan restaurants in town in addition to violet oon. This one from chef danny has a pretty good ayam buah keluak. The kuah pie tee not as good as violet (maybe it’s the shell) and the chendol average

A high-end Peranakan restaurant serving set lunch menu of 6 dishes for 2 persons at $118 ++ There’s a lot of food and the flavors are amazing! Well worth the price, esp the wagyu beef rendang, black ink squids and chap chye vegetables.

Had lunch here with friend who raved about the exquisite taste on her first visit. We ordered the ayam buah keluak and chapchye since there were only two of us.
The buah keluak dish was done to perfection, the meat just tender in rather chunky sizes that necessitated using the fingers, hence the 30cents surcharge per wet towel. The buah keluak scraped out in a tiny portion on a side plate was nicely spicy.
The chap chye priced at $19 was ordinary, though.
Water was not charged, at least.
Service was brusque, guess it's the universal shortage of service workers.
Acoustics was terrible, with so much noise owing to the structure of the building presumably and the loud voices of the various lunch groups.
It's hardly the place for a leisurely meal, so in spite of the original flavours, won't be returning as such expensive food should be served in an equally atas environment and not with the roar of a hawker centre.

We went for the set and added an extra Ayam Buah Keluak as we felt Buah Keluak is a signature must-have at any Peranakan.
Every dish was on point, a few were a bit too spicy for me, but the flavours were amazing. I'm usually a fan of ngoh hiang but I felt this one was too chunky. My top fav would be the Kueh Pie Tee. And can I just say how impressed I am, that the keropok was served warm!
The highlight of the night has gotta be the Chendol. I'm usually not a fan of this dessert but this one is truly worth the calories, especially that melt-in-your-mouth jelly.
Acoustics was bad though, the restaurant was full and there was just so much noise and sound we had to raise our voices to hear each other.

Had a really well executed Peranakan meal... babi pongtay, chap chay, assam ikan, kueh pie tee... their desserts are also equally good... chendol and gula melaka panna cotta....
All delicious, well balanced flavours, use of spices. Definitely worth trying this restaurant, notwithstanding that it’s only 4 months old. Great potential!!!
