Good rustic fare

Tapas24, Robertson Quay: We cycled afar for a sinful carb Tapas cheat day at Tapas24. I sailed past the bright-hued doors and beckoning windows with trepidation - Google reviews beat this sprightly spot to a pulp. A lot of the negative-Nancied reviews are unfounded. Or maybe we got lucky. Service was warm and friendly. Tapas isn’t of the new artisanal types you get at Carlita’s or Levi Tapas. It’s rustic fare pulled off well. Gambas was Spanish traditionally good, tasty with garlic infused oil so good you want to call for a straw so you can sip it all up. Fried baby squid was generous in portion but I did get a wee tired of the taste after a few pops. Surf and turf paella was massive and visually reeled you in at first sight. Rice was soaked tasty. The only peeve is that the Sofrito didn’t match the taste - it was soggy and Sofritos’s are hard to achieve - it’s all in the techniques. Basque cheese cake was rich, creamy and pretty in looks. It was a filling, satisfying and burpingly good Spanish dine. I suspect that some of higher-priced items on the menu is what unfair reviewers are crying foul of. Otherwise, it’s a greatly sprightly dine. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Nothing beats having margarita on a hot day during lunch time and their happy hour margarita is both value for money and refreshing to the soul. Almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves on a hot weekday lunch time, service was not too bad as there is literally just 1-2 tables of customers. We had the Bikini sandwich, scallop ceviche and chuleta to share. I'd say the ceviche which is consist of mostly raw scallops and some avocado is very different from the other ceviches I had tried before. The grilled pork is so decadent. The meat is both soft and tender. Will I come back again, I definitely will!

A BUSY THOROUGHFARE

This restaurant is located right on the pedestrian/cycle thoroughfare at the quay which makes for an entertaining view whilst dining. The Happy Hour drinks are good. Our meal of shared Jambon/Chorizo/Cheeses was adequate for two. Staff were under pressure at this peak meal time but did their best & were helpful.

Lousy Experience

What a terrible visit. We made a reservation for 8 pax at 6.30pm. Some of us arrived earlier and ordered the tasting platter. When the rest arrived slightly after 6pm, we tried to order the tasting platter and was told we can’t since we’ve past the “time”. We asked for the supervisor and offered to paid “non-happy hours” price for the tasting platter. Told, no way! Left after paying for the drinks & platter as we feel that the restaurant don’t want our business. What a lousy customer experience! Never again!

Nice food, shame about the service.

I so wanted to give this restaurant a good review as the food was good, but the service was just dire. Ordered drinks - nothing came. Asked again. Nothing came. Eventually after the third time asking the drinks finally came. Ordered 3 tapas (1 main and 2 starters) and asked for them to come together. We had one starter tapas, 10 minutes wait and then the main tapas, then after asking 4 times - we got the third starter tapas at 10pm, an hour after ordering. To be fair to the last waiter who served us - he did apologize for the delay and then knocked off the price of the drinks. So we were pleased with this and grateful that the restaurant acknowledged their bad service. Staff waiting on tables were friendly and pleasant. It's just a shame the service wasn't better.

Food assembly line.

This place is a food assembly factory. All dishes arrived within 2 mins of ordering them. Shows that they were all pre-prepared and sent out. Some were not even proper hot. Just warm. But when we ordered coffee it took 30 mins….the only thing that had to be made. Food was mediocre, even bland. Understaffed. Many people were sitting with their arms raised hoping to get attention.

Rude staff and terrible customer service

Ok food but terrible service from rude staff. Was a pretty astonishing experience. Visited this place a few times and the food is usually ok. The ladies had some questions about the paella - tasted ok but was tiny and burned to the base of the pan. Our polite feedback to the staff was met with an argumentative rude ‘manager’ - one of the ‘3 managers’ who was Filipino. That was followed by the angry rude chef. They were clearly having a bad service and attempted to deliver multiple wrong dishes to our table and didn’t deliver one we ordered. Whoever owns this restaurant needs to train their staff better. The customer is always wrong at Tapas24 Lol Better places to go in Rob quay

Delicious weekend dinner

My wife and sister in law went after a long day around the city and the warm atmosphere and fresh food was just what we needed. Close to plenty of hotels nearby and reasonably priced, so perfect for a last minute dinner option. Would definitely recommend.

Terrific food and service

After visiting Gardens By The Bay, we headed back to our hotel for a quick freshen up, then walked to Robertson Quay for some (late) lunch around 3:30. We had picked Tapas 24 from walking around the area the previous night - and what a great choice it was. Excellent staff, amazing food, cold beer with the various meals delivered in good time. Spanish beers, croquetas de jamon, puntillitas fritas (baby squid) and bocados de pollo frito (crispy boneless chicken) were all spot-on. Very friendly wait staff spent some time with us describing the food that we ordered and other possibilities. 10/10.

Great Tapas Restaurant in Robertson Quay

I took customers to this restaurant as they like Spanish food. Other reviews critize the tapas menu for being small but everything they offer is really great and I think the selection for being in Singapore is just fine. We were really surprised by the Tomato Tar-tar ND highly recommend it. The black truffle bikini tapa was also very good. We also selected a Para ham and cheese plate and were very satisfied. The restaurant ambiance is quite casual so don't expect anything fancy, but the food and service was really fantastic. I highly recommend this spot.

Bizarre seating policy

We supported this restaurant with delivery during the circuit breaker. But our recent visit was an unpleasant experience because of the bizarre seating policy. We arrived early about 6.30pm on a Thursday evening. We have no reservation and asked for a table. The staff, stocky male, told us we can let you have a table indoors but you need to leave by 8pm. Wow! We can let you have a table, as if they are doing me a favour. And you need to p** off by 8pm. I then asked for any outdoors seating and was told it’s all reserved when the restaurant was not busy and I don’t see any reservation sign on the tables. I spotted a tight 2 counter seats at one of the windows. So we settled for that. Then I spotted 3 huge high tables behind us each with 2 sets of dining cutlery laid out. So I politely and respectfully asked the same stocky male if we could have one of the tables. The stocky male replied those are “closed”. Closed till a certain time, closed for the day. Closed for people they deem more worthy. I do not know because stocky male gave a disdainful “don’t waste my time I got more important things to do“ look, turned and left without further explanation. About half an hour later, they started seating people at the high tables. Contrast this to another restaurant Les Bouchons Rive Gauche, whose entire staff greeted us warmly when we were just passing by to Tapas 24. And greeted us again when we passed by back to our car. And we weren’t even their customers! We may not be big spenders and the restaurant won’t suffer losing our future business. But we will certainly spend our hard earned money on Les Bouchons Rive Gauche in the future because we are not suckers. And to stocky male if you don’t like people, you should not be in the service industry. Change job. And to the restaurant management, please train your staff to be more professional.

Came for our anniversary n was served by Yvonne, a superb cheery staff who recommended a couple of their well loved dishes n even went out of her way to let me Taste 2 of their Kumar cava. U was a very enjoyable dinner n enjoyed the meal n dishes recommended. Deserves another visit DEFINITELY!!!

Pretty good food; a little overpriced.

Busy on a Friday night. Food was pretty good although a bit of a hit and miss. Potato omelette was tiny and too oily and doused with too much mayo when it should have been able to stand on its own.

Excellent Food & Service at Tapas,24

I had a lovely Christmas dinner with friends at Tapas,24. The food was awesome, especially the Paella de Gambas Al Ajillo and the Clams in Sherry! Everyone was raving about it! Not forgetting the cheese cake at the end of dinner, it was creamy and delicious. We were served by Alvin the Restaurant GM; he was attentive and always looking out to make sure that the dishes were served in time and our drinks topped up. The rest of the service crew were equally attentive and polite. We had a really enjoyable dinner.
