My fiancé and I visited LUCE by Davide Giacomelli on 2nd December 2023 for dinner. It was meant to be a casual evening but two people at LUCE made it a evening worth reminiscing for years to come with their gloriously beautiful food, one that...was still lingering on my taste buds long after the day was over, amazing service and astonishing knowledge and skills. I would like to particularly show my appreciation for Sumo, who was taking of us that delightful evening. He was outstanding in his knowledge and intricate explanation of the food. He was very detail-oriented and professional in the way he presented the food that he opened up our palates and got us all excited to savour the food. Another person who were totally impressed with was Chef de Cuisine, Davide Giacomelli himself. He came to our table, pulled up a chair and sat down for a conversation with us as we were eagerly awaiting our last course, their delectable dessert. He was like a friend whom we had no prior introduction to. He was so humble, cultured and friendly. He made us feel very much at home with his persona. A very proficient man, coupled with great character, I must say. In summation, to say LUCE by Davide Giacomelli is the restaurant to dine in if you are looking for quality and tantalising Italian food, is simply an understatement. A passionate chef is one that is rare to come by and it is extremely important that he receives the recognition he so rightfully deserves. Chef Davide Giacomelli has developed an extensive and bold menu which reflects his obvious deep respect for traditional Italian cuisine while also offering new takes and his own personal touch. The service from his team (Justin and sumo) was impeccable from start to finish. We...chose the parmigiana di melanzane as our starter and the sauce was straight out of nonnas kitchen. For mains we had the fettuccine alla coda Di manza and their signature dish the acquerello lobster risotto. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious and the lobster stock in the risotto was incredible. For dessert we shared Dulce’s signature Luce-misu and chef Giacomelli’s deconstructed reinterpretation of the classic tiramisu is hands down the best we’ve ever tasted. A great dining experience and one we look forward to having again on our next visit to Singapore.More

Located in the heart of Bugis, within the Intercontinental Hotel, lies LUCE by Davide Giacomelli, an Italian restaurant promising an authentic taste of Italy. On a rainy Thursday evening, I ventured into its warm embrace, seeking a culinary escape from the dampness outside. The restaurant's...ambiance exudes a modern elegance, with sleek décor and a touch of sophistication. The dim lighting casts an intimate glow, setting the stage for a romantic evening or a cozy gathering with friends. My culinary journey began with the Bruschetta Parma, a classic Italian starter adorned with Parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, rocket leaves, and basil. The toasted bread, however, proved to be a tad too hard for my liking, resisting my attempts to cut it neatly. The dressing, too, leaned towards the salty side, overpowering the delicate flavors of the ham. Nonetheless, the refreshing basil and vibrant tomato flavors provided a welcome contrast. As I indulged in the Bruschetta, I ordered a glass of wine, anticipating a delightful pairing with the meal. Unfortunately, a communication gap led to a delayed arrival, leaving me to finish my appetizer almost wine-less. I opted for a Primitivo del Salento, a bold and full-bodied red that complemented the savory notes of the Italian dishes throughout the evening. My dining experience was further punctuated by a few mishaps. Due to another misunderstanding, my rice and main course arrived simultaneously, requiring a request to send the main course back to the kitchen. Additionally, the music played by the DJ, while initially pleasant, grew increasingly loud as the evening progressed, disrupting the otherwise intimate ambiance. Despite the occasional hiccups, there were a few redeeming elements to my dining experience. The Cacio e Pepe Risotto delivered a creamy texture and a satisfying peppery kick. The rice, though slightly overcooked for my preference, retained a delightful bite. For my main course, I selected the Pancetta di Maiale, a slow-cooked pork belly glazed with honey jus. The pancetta, upon arrival, was tender and succulent, yet a touch too charred, rendering the edges unpleasantly bitter. The honey jus, while providing a touch of sweetness, couldn't quite mask the overpowering saltiness of the meat. Despite its hefty price tag of SGD42, I found myself unable to finish the dish, leaving a significant portion uneaten. On a positive note, diners who pay using their DBS cards are entitled to a 15% discount, offering a small consolation for the overall mediocre dining experience. In conclusion, while LUCE by Davide Giacomelli holds the potential for a delightful Italian escapade, my recent experience fell short of expectations. The food, while boasting some redeeming qualities, was marred by inconsistencies in execution and seasoning. The service, though well-intentioned, suffered from a few communication mishaps that disrupted the flow of the meal. Overall, my dining experience at LUCE by Davide Giacomelli was a mixed bag, leaving me with a sense of disappointment rather than culinary satisfaction.More

Had a fantastic team lunch at Luce. We were served by Justin and Serene(sp?). Food and service were really impeccable. One of the best Italian food we had. Every dish gave a surprise. Desserts were delightful! There was a problem with the dessert kitchen but...the crew managed to work it out and gave us an extra plate as service recovery for the long wait.More
