Excellent food and cocktails! Causal ambiance on 2nd floor of a shop house. They don’t have a menu for cocktails but basically recommend and craft cocktails based on your preferences (which are excellent!) The food was amazing and tasty beyond belief. Ordered the Mentaiko Taramasalata...and the babaganoush (which was amazing. I don’t usually like eggplant but this dip was out of this world) The broccoli and seabass were also very unique- never had broccoli done in such a refreshing manner before and the seabass was a perfect dish in all respects. Really cosy place with excellent food and cocktails (they don’t serve any wines) if you want great food in a cosy ambianceMore

We wandered in completely by accident and am so glad we did! The service was impeccable, the food out of this world and the drinks were absolutely delicious! If you’re a non-drinker please don’t shy away, I was made a fantastic mocktail that was very...tasty and the staff didn’t even blink an eye at my request. As someone who struggles to find drinks without alcohol beyond coke and water on most bar menus, this was a very pleasant surprise! The food was amazing, Japanese and Middle Eastern fusion (Habibi San is next door) and we had the best hummus I’ve ever tasted. They made Brussels sprouts taste like something out of this world! A must for adventurous diners, but if you struggle with stairs this place is probably not for you.More

Hadnt booked, but they found me a spot at the bar. There is no menu, so barman asked what flavours i liked and suggested an idea. Turned out a lovely cocktail. Very skilled bar staff who were a joy to just watch working. Tiny space,...but it all worked well. Was very busy so no chat with barstaff, but was made welcome.More

A hidden gem, sure to leave you entertained. Came here with my wife after a long days work and was surprised at the coziness. You have to share tables with others especially if ur a walk-in. Cocktails are personalised based on your flavour profile. Definitely...coming back for more. Reservation is necessary else its a coin toss we did get lucky.More

What a find ! I am not a fan of cocktails, so a cocktail only bar wasn’t really the place for me! However; I was very wrong. Here they don’t have a menu with the usual suspects, you tell them what you like flavour wise...and they knock up something. We had cocktails inspired by After Eights, Banana Split, Black Forest Gateaux, Pancakes syrup and bacon, mukwas (using absinthe for fennel) and some others. Calai (I hope I spelled that right) was amazing host for a 5* night. We will be back.More

Went for dinner with friends, very disappointed. The food portions are tiny and expensive for what it was. Meat was Low quality & full of fat, I had to spit out most of it. Taste of some of the dips is good but portions are...so tiny for the price. Ordered the chocolate tart for dessert and it arrived cut in half! The other half was missing…who does that and charge for a full tart. Cheese dessert comes with ritz crackers (!) which you can get at NTUC. Rip off. Service is poor - had to ask several times for cutlery. Despite us having sharing plates no spoons provided (covid times especially this is a minimum), we had to constantly ask for spoons. The bathroom is so filthy dirty…you wonder about the hygiene of this place. Overall, nice concept of cocktails but the place feels dirty, run down, and someone is trying to rip you off. A clean bathroom, topping up cuterly & water, clearing plates after customer is finished…would be a good starting point too since they are taking service charge. The bar tenders can also improve their attitude. There are much better, cleaner & friendlier places in Singapore for cocktails.More

No menu cocktail experience - go with an open mind and be ready to try something new! I cannot fault anything at Bar stories, definitely a place we will return to frequently - the bar staff were knowledgeable and created bespoke cocktails from our brief...descriptions of flavours/classic cocktails we enjoyed. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching all the cocktails being made before our eyes. The creativity and palates of the staff is outstanding.More

This place advertises themselves for having no cocktail menu with bar tenders that can create bespoke cocktails to your taste. First up, I told the bartender I did not like refreshing cocktail and wanted something smoky. He served me a lemony gin cocktail with burnt...rosemary—I guess if it ticks the “smoky” requirement, you can ignore the non-refreshing aspect the customer specified. Next, my partner requested for a boozy rum based cocktail. After waiting 30mins and reminding the bartender, we got a NON-rum cocktail that was boozy. At this point we realized that the bartenders actually have a very limited repertoire and even a fixed list of cocktails to actually serve up. There was nothing bespoke about it, at least on the day we visited.More

There are few bars that I head to regularly and Bar Stories is one of them. And rightfully so. Before the slew of secret bars became visible, Bar Stories has that hidden feel. The original bar is tucked on the second floor of a shophouse...on that famous Haji Lane stretch. Now it has an extension on the first floor but head up as that’s where the charm is. A tiny bar greets you at the stairs with a smattering of bar seats. Head to the other room for more privacy. They’re one of the first to start with a no-menu-no-drink-name bespoke concept. Name your poison and they get creative with the concoctions. My favourite combi is – absinthe and a dramatic presentation, please. #eatstylishtravelstylishMore

The staff is completely clueless as far as service is concerned. I cant comment on the drinks as we weren't served any even after sitting for 1 HOUR on the table. We were " Warned " ( the word Warned was used by the person...who was taking our orders) that since its a bespoke bar it would take 15-20 mins for our drinks to arrive but the drinks weren't served until 1hour. We decided to leave without having any drinks. On noticing we were walking of - A particular staff member instead of being apologetic was rude by saying "we already warned you" . We have been to Bar Stories a few times and have always loved it.It is right ion Haji Lane in a small space above a restaurant on the second floor. The workers and bartenders are all friendly and knowledgeable. There is no drink menu as...such. You tell them they style/types of drinks you like and they make something to order. The drinks are always well presented and we've always been happy with wjat we have had. Prices range from 20-25++ for each drinkMore
