Nice place to go to for authentic coffee and dessert. the ambience and surrounding is very tranquil.
After trying their pandan pancakes once, my husband kept hankering after it. So I finally gave in and we went again to Chye Seng Huat. Not too keen on the location since we can't reserve a table and if it is crowded, there is not...much else we want to do or can do at the location. Fortunately, though there was a slight queue, there were sufficient seats since they have both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit difficult to order food using the software application, but the real disappointment was the pandan pancake. This time, both of us agreed that the texture of the pancake was not right - it was not firm and spongy (and neither was it soft and fluffy which is the other type of popular pancake nowadays) - it ended up tasting 'sticky', and sticking to the teeth. The amount of ice cream was not quite sufficient for the 4 pancakes. What saved the outing was the sticky fig pudding which was excellent - sufficiently moist and with enough ice cream to accompany the pudding.More
Came here for a coffee earlier in the month with a friend. Had to wait in line for about 10 mins to order: very inefficient. Coffee was reasonable. Remarkably popular cafe, but I don’t think it’s really worth the hassle of lining up to pay.
Love this place, it’s a chill coffee shop with a lovely ambiance, you feel more local than fancy, it’s so nice and the desserts are delicious 😋 Price is reasonable, don’t miss this place for social or for working
Situated in a former hardware store, this hidden hipster cafe offers a cosy enclave perfect for brunch as their coffee is a must-have.
My wife and I stopped by the Chye Seng Huat Hardware cafe after dinner at a nearby coffee shop. The interior decor was of a warehouse industrial look, with rusty looking iron bars lining the side walls. There are indoors (air con) and outdoor seatings...in a courtyard. We ordered two coffee and a peach and passion fruits ice cheesecake. The peach cheesecake was very refreshing and an ideal dessert after dinner. Overall it was a unique experience for us. If you are a tourist visiting Singapore this is a good place to stop by and a area to explore.More
We just dropped by after breakfast nearby to get their coffee. It is smooth, strong and looks pretty too. We didnt eat anything here though. Had a look at the displayed caked and pastries and didnt see that wide a range Maybe i will try...their warm food next time.More
We had been looking forward to try this eatery, and just happened to be around the area. The place itself is quite chill and has good vibes, with many tables situated at different spots within and out, and offering good photo locations, eg the bicycle...at the entrance. Ordering was simple - order and pay and the food gets delivered. You can also help yourself to the plain water provided. Foodwise, it was okay. The pesto prawns were good, and the four prawns were plump and juicy. The dish did taste a little heavy at the end, though, as did my crispy duck with sweet potato stew. The duck skin was super crunchy as well. After finishing over half the dish, I certainly wish there was some leafy vegetables or bread to help change the taste a little. The dish did come with some crunchy beans but could have used a bit more. The homemade lemonade was good, if a little pricey. Overall, at $65, it was a good if slightly expensive experience.More
Always love to visit this place for coffee with my friends! This unassuming cafe serves up pretty good food too!
I have had the most downtrodden luck every time I head here. I either couldn’t get a seat in the sea of ardent fans or the café was shut down for a shoot. Hailed as one of the tourists’ must-tick item on the bucket list,...I simply must sleuth it out. I was a tad disappointed with the food. I mean everyone is here for the PPP coffee, where they have a unique take to coffee brewing. Big crowds, Lonely Planet mentions equates to elevated prices. The brunch menu is good but for the restaurant prices, you expect more finesse and small pleasant surprises. It’s simple and the looks are down to earth. Vegans are not forgotten as there are a few vegan items on the menu. Clearly this is the place to be at to be seen, you nurse your aromatic brew and watch the interesting crowds dip in and out of the hipster joint.More
