I often go for the good chef Western delicious steak if the Noodle queue...is more than 5. My record waiting time - 2 and the half hours. Thanks to the 2 housing agent who order 10 take away orders ahead of me. I wouldn't know at first time after queueing for the first half an hour. Ave is 5 bowls every half hour. Old horse won't change despite requesting his style of cooking. Only he does the cooking and collection of money, he trust no one else. Bring Yr own drinks or hypertension/anxiety pills, u will need. Best time with 5 in queue is either 10mins before 9:30am or come on WKENDS. Get Yr choices of food whichever u prefer but nvr order drinks from the coffee shop. That bull face woman that operates the stall can blow her nose and wipe on her pants and continue to make coffee. I tipped her off and she could deny saying that her hands are clean. Take a trip back to old Singapore and visit stall 02-115 on the second floor of Chinatown markets. There we bought handmade, freshly cooked Yiu Tiao dough sticks and also tried their Pandan Butterfly buns. Both were delicious and we washed them down with "Kopi",...a strong-looking but delightfully tasty coffee sweetened with condensed milk. If you don't want it sweet, ask for "Kopi si kosong" this just has milk in it. Or "Kopi kosong" - black with no milk or sugar. The coffee/ drinks stall is a couple of shops down the row. The Pandan butterfly buns with crispy sesame topping was delicious. In this hawker centre you'll see many traditional foods at exceptional prices. It's not pristine, it's rough and ready, and looks much the same as it did 30 years ago. If you venture down to the basement you'll see a wet market.More
