For North Indian food downtown - you can never go wrong with Anglo Indian. Have been coming here for years and food quality, taste and service has always been very decent.
Try their betel kulfi, one and only in Singapore. The food was good and Madhan’s hospitality was warm and welcoming. Will be visiting this place again.
It was my final night of my Singapore holiday, I was staying in a hotel in Bencoolen and wanted to grab a quick bite and drink near chijmes. Obvious choice was Anglo Indian Cafe Bar, due to its great reviews. I reached around 10:15pm, I...was promptly given a table and the menu, and was mentioned that they were taking last orders. I ordered a Paulaner pint, the Singapore Sling cocktail and a dum biriyani. The food came promptly, loved the drinks, biriyani was good too, but my expectations were higher for the biriyani as I am a biriyani connoisseur and I thought it would have the hyderabadi taste to it. It was a bit spicy as well, which maybe fits the local Indian taste but was difficult for me and I kept taking the raita with every spoon of rice. Overall a good experience, maybe next time I will go early and try out a few entrees and curries as well. And the price was a bit on the expensive side compared to Singapore standards, but opening a restaurant in Chijmes has its share of cost.More
A quick overnight in Singapore on a Friday night and food beckons This place is five minutes from the hotel and is busy so must be OK A pretty traditional curry menu leads to a pretty traditional but extremely tasty curry Tastes good, the service...was good, what’s not to likeMore
Decent currys and biryanis as well as prompt service. Drinks expensive. Convenient location if you are in CBD. Not too crowded and noisy. Open air.
The vouchers get you a 20% discount but when you use it you get the distinct feeling that the manager is not particularly happy from the service. The butter chicken portion was a smaller than the regular portion that I usually order. They even used...a different bowl!. This place serves great food but it is not nice when a deal ain’t a deal and you are made to feel like a cheapskate.More
Nice place open air and lively crowd, food was decent and drink are good. We liked paneer and Broccoli, chicken tikka was average … breads were really nice
The quality of food has been going down over time. Need to improve quickly else run the risk of losing their regular customers.
DebjaniL5 (0 review) Delicious wholesome food. Needed vegetarian Indian food without onion and garlic for my father’s prayer service. They were most helpful and neatly packed and sent bento boxes. Everyone enjoyed the fresh food. Very satisfied with their support. Thank you so much!
I’ve been to the CHIJMES and Shenton outlet a few times and I find the cheese naan and butter chicken curry the best serve. It is very delicious and the service staff are very friendly and the price of the drinks are very reasonable.
Their biryani, served ‘en croûte’, used to be superb - flavourful, fragrant, moist. It’s not as great as a few years ago, but still remains one of the better versions in Singapore. Other dishes are authentic and very good too. Friendly, proactive service.
I would like to write up a situation where I enjoyed the food and the staff was very polite, I'm talking about Anglo Indian Cafe and bar that is located at Shenton Way, the food really very delicious especially the mutton biryani and to sum...up the experience i was attended by this Filipino waiterss goes by the name of Helen i was really taken by her positive working attitude doing it with grace and her smile, i could it was a tough job but watching her work makes m wanting to go back with my friends next time aroundMore
This was once a very pleasant place to eat and get takeaway, but no longer. The service has degraded badly, especially with those taking takeaway orders on the phone. When I arrived to pick up at the agreed time when I called on the phone...(over an hour before pick up) it was as if I did not even call. I think that she forgot my order and had to ask the chef to start cooking. When it happened the first time, i did not raise an issue, but this is the 3rd time this has happened. This was the 3rd time that I ordered takeaway and was late for my guests as the food was late... Sorry, but I want to be supportive of the local restaurants, but I won't be coming back again.More
Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer were real delicious. Waitress' (Anita) was cheerful and helpful. Great dining experience overall.
