Was choosing between the Mookata, Japanese food or Steamboat here at Golden Mile Towers and ultimately decided on this as haven't been here for almost 5 years. The queue was super long but moved very quickly, so we got a table in less than 15mins. Ordered the medium Steamboat platter $43, plus half chicken and their signature Hainanese Pork Chop (which was extremely crispy) Everything was done simply without frills, but all the food was fresh and served piping hot rapidly. Very simple and traditional Hainanese food, but hugely popular because of the pricing and bustling ambience with huge crowds. I forgot to bring extra eggs to add into the steamboat though, next time perhaps....... #choowai2020 #thienkeesteamboat #thienkee #thienkeechickenrice #goldenmiletower @ Golden Mile Thien Kee Steamboat

This is definitely a local steamboat place with no frills. What is nice is that it also serve chicken rice which goes really well with the steamboat. Staff if courteous and helpful. Bonus is that it has aircon and very spacious.

First time trying this steamboat . Went on 25 Dec for dinner and could find table easily for 2 pax. Ordered set meal w beef . Food came quickly but Broth was disappointing though , very diluted . Was Served a large bowl of chili sauce and garlic sauce. Ordered satay and it took a long time , in the end left without eating it . The Chicken rice that was served with the steamboat though was savory and yummy , best item out of the meal . Best to check your bill before leaving , was still charged for satay even though we cancelled the order and was charged for 4 bowls of rice though we ordered 2. I think for the price , there are better steamboat places out there .

Dont expect a nice place to begin with. But as many of restaurant that have unbelievable nice food, these kind of restaurant is only known by locals. Located on the basement of Thai community mall, this restaurant have what i think the best hainamese chicken rice in singapore. not to mention their charsieu and roasted pork. The hainamese chicken was perfect according to me, very moist but not wet. really melt in your mouth. i think it worth the trip to got there and as a bonus, we get to taste thai sweets on the mall above.

My family and I had our lunch at your golden mile then kee steamboat. It was our pleasure to have a good meal at your place. However, the staff there kept looking at us while we are eating, which made us very uncomfortable. One of your staffs was complaining us that we took a lot of chillies for our meals. I understand that chillies could have compliment the taste of your dishes. We like your dishes, together with the chillies. Thanks for the complimentary chillies, but your staff had been complaining on such. We did not waste food, and we managed to finish the chillies too. While we tried to figure out who was the staff and requested for the staff’s name, your other staffs had been denial and did not answer to our request. I don’t think these communication were essential and effective? Lastly, we would like you to know that, your dishes are nice but effective communication were not practice among your staffs while good communication supposed to be your utmost priority in the food & beverages industry.

Old school steamboat but I love the nostalgic familiar taste. The beef for the steamboat is my favourite. I also enjoyed eating their chicken rice and chilli sauce. A little expensive for the ambience.

A very nostalgic restaurant serving old school Singapore styled steamboat and great Hainanese chicken. The restaurant has always been one of our family go to restaurant since I was a kid. I wouldn’t say that the taste was fantastic but we grew up eating this and it had become of of our comfort food. The rice deserved a special mention as it was flavourful and fragrant. Not forgetting the classic Hainanese chicken.

For the steamboat, the different type of raw meat was overly salted in the marination ...so when you cooked the raw meat in d soup...the soup became so so saltish....hardly can drink. Standard really dropped tremendously....very disappointed.

Staff attitude is not good. Just becareful of the staffs . Food is not bad . Just that the staff will stare at you and shout loudly when you take too much condiment. Never going back again . Worst experience ever

Growing up in a Hainanese family, I couldn't remember when I do not have at least one steamboat meal within each month, or Hainanese Chicken Rice within a week. Traditional Hainanese restaurants like Yet Con and Thien Kee from the 50s, have both Steamboat and Chicken Rice. So you can say I grew up with these restaurants. Golden Mile Thien Kee is located in the basement of Golden Mile Tower, expanded and expanded through the years and they now occupy a whole stretch of spacious restaurant dining space with a satellite just outside the lifts, and on dinners and weekends the outside corridor tables almost stretch around all the walkway from their store front to around the lift blocks. Yet pre-covid days you do not want to come peak dinner hours as you will still have to wait for a table. Now its better, came 6pm on a Sunday evening, easy choice of table for five, prompt attentive service and immediate food. Like many whom reviewed, a lot of us Hainanese still eat here is mainly Nostalgia, since a lot of different steamboats and hotpots with a multitude of base broths are available now in Singapore. At Thien Kee, everything is at it's simple best. Simple Chicken stock broth, fresh and clean ingredients, vegetables, clean layout and utensils. Tastes of a simple steamboat and a familiar tradition of decades past. Simple no-MSG chicken soup that enhances as you cook your ingredients. Another best here is the Chicken Rice. Moist, tender Hainanese poached chicken and their gingery Chicken Rice, my Hainanese family and my Mom-in-Law's, three generations of two Hainanese swore it's currently the best in Singapore. Fluffy, light, gingery with chicken umami and the most aromatic. Other Hainanese staples we will usually order are Pork Satay, Prawn Fritters and Pork Chop. A taste of growing up years and soon, a bygone era. Yet Con had since shuttered, not sure if it's for good, so enjoy Thien Kee while it lasts.

We wanted to find a special place to celebrate my daughters birthday and immediately this place came into my mind. The establishment is an old one that dated back to my fathers time when I was just a few years old boy. Always reminded me of my childhood whenever I visit. Back to the food. The restaurant has been serving the same old steam boat from the olden days with its succulent poached chicken and other various Hainanese dishes. The best was the chicken rice that comes with the dishes. It has always been fragrant and tasty; so tasty that I can actually eat it on its own. But interestingly, this time round, I thought there was a drop in standard when it comes to their chicken rice. I just hope that it’s just an one-off case which the chefs had a bad day. I wouldn’t say that the broth is the best, I thought I find the food here comforting, more like home-cooked goodness. And of course, soaking ourselves in the nostalgic feel of the entire place. They have not shifted for more than 30 years!

not a tourist place for sure.. we were the only foreginers there, following some local friend suggestion. .. steamboat chinese meal with fresh meat and satay kebabs .. all very good overall and really authentic.. not for spoiled tourists nor for people who needs to eat in an Hospital like hygiene place.. excellent quality price ratio.. full meal for two at less than SGD50.

Went to try this place again with family this time. The last i tried the steam boat was way back on 2016. We had a medium set for steam boat plus beef. Added pork satay, deep fried baby squids (soh tong kiah - 苏东仔),hainanese pork chop in tomato sauce. Also added 1/4 chicken. The staff are friendly and helpful. It was Sunday evening at 7pm and they helped us settle into a suitable round table for 5. Revommended the steam boat with beef but let us take time to decide. No pressure at all. All good.

An old fashioned Singapore establishment - well known and respected, making few concessions to modernity. Busy, decent food, decent service and basically an up-market noodle shop, though the signature dish is the steamboat, with low prices to match.
