We came to Soup Restaurant Suntec for dinner on May 14 (sun) and it was a great experience. The service was amazing, and all the aunties and uncles are so nice and thoughtful, especially uncle Eric Goh. We ordered Barley and it was the first...time that they offered to change the glass and empty out the barley so that we can enjoy the drink. As we were lost with the menu Uncle Eric recommended us just the right portions to order Thank you so much Soup Restaurant. Your service is as good or even better than many of the Michelin star restaurantsMore

@TheKuoKnows The secret of Soup Restaurant’s success is simplicity. It’s decor is simple and it’s menu is eveb simpler. The Samsui Chicken is a must-have. It should be the centrepiece of the meal around which other dishes should be arranged. The Tofu Prawns are delightful....They look spicier than they really are. But they are packed with flavour. A plate of Mantou is great for mopping up the sauce. The Ah Por Potato Leaves are definitely worth a try. Soup Restaurant never disappoints. A big thumbs-up from me.More

Famous local steamed chicken with ginger and lettuce to wrap it or with steamed rice. Nice try and the steamed minced pork with salted fish also taste delicious.

In every visit to Singapore, we have dinner here with colleagues. Although it’s said that their signature is soups, must try will be definitely the ginger chicken. Go for it!

I have a irrational dislike for seafood that are rubbery, many armed whether fresh or dried. My dining companions know of this extremely well and would go out of their way to not order dishes with those vile ingredients in them. The first picture I...have enclosed is the pot of soup with 八脚鱼 (aka octopus). The moment I took a sip I felt really nauseous due to my irrational dislike for that ingredient, and it was not stated in the menu that it contained any seafood. The runner confirmed this when I asked if the pork soup contains seafood. Besides the nasty scare, everything else was lovely, such as this delicious chicken.More

Very good selections of food, also with a good service. I was accompanied by a local colleague speaking Chinese so I have no idea if English would be a problem. Anyway, nothing to complain, I recommend it.

I loved their Samsui Ginger Chicken! Soup Restaurant is certainly a must try in Singapore! Their Chinese cuisine is definitely authentic and a gastronomic delight! Many dishes have herbs and special ingredients that are medicinal and nourishing to the body.

My family has frequented The Soup Restaurant for many years. Hence, this review in a way is long overdue. The selection of home-cooked dishes which the restaurant termed as “Chinatown Heritage Cuisine” may not sound as glorious as the menu at the Chinese Restaurants in...5-Star Hotels or the famous Seafood Restaurants but they offer an excellent gastronomic experience for those hungry for home-cooked cuisine. Among my many favourites are the must-have at every family visit of Samsui Ginger Chicken, Beggar Ribs, freshly handmade Tofu, “Ah Por” Sweet Potato Leaves (occasionally, the spicy version of “Ah Kong” Sweet Potato Leaves) to go with fragrant rice or the fried Mee Sua. For a bigger dining group, other dishes for add-on consideration include the Steamed San Yu (fish slices), Steamed “Hand Chopped” Minced Pork with Salted Fish, fried French Beans with Minced Pork, and others. Prepared in traditional way, the selection of dishes warm my stomach with the feeling of home just thinking about it. Complete your meal with a serving of double-boiled herbal soup like Ginseng Roots with Chicken Soup or the Black Chicken Soup, or other soup offerings like the Lotus Roots soup. Enjoy the nutritious home-cooked meal with sips of Chinese Pu-Erh or Chrysanthemum tea. When my family wants traditional home-cooked dishes, The Soup Restaurant always comes to mind (apart from our Singaporean "Zichar"). There are many outlets to choose from. We eat out at the outlets at Suntec City and IMM (the one at Toa Payoh had closed last year). If you are tired of feasting at Hotels or Seafood Restaurants, give your family a treat of home-cooked cuisine. Or should you have visitors from overseas, make one of their meals a traditional Chinese one for a different experience.More

The Samsui ginger chicken is worth the visit, along with some other great dishes. Friendly & prompt service in a pleasant environment, although as with any mall restaurant the sense of arrival and place is diminished. A shame I could not get a glass of...wine.More

My wife and I caught up with Singaporean friends for a wonderful Chinese New Year lunch. We had a variety of traditional Chinese dishes. All were wonderful. For a taste of Singapore I recommend the Soup Restaurant.

We visited on a Saturday evening, which is understandably a peak for the restaurant. Unique thing was being asked to place orders while still standing in queue outside the restaurant. Efficient, yes. Considerate, maybe not. Fortunately we are regulars at their other outlets so we...decided fairly quickly. Inside, the atmosphere is not unlikely a bustling teahouse in Hong Kong. Staff rushing around, diners chatting loudly. Hardly tranquil. Decor however is befitting a Chinese restaurant and very authentic. We enjoyed the signature Samsui Chicken. However they managed to mess up our order and serve the chicken only after we had completed the rest of our meal. The sweet potato leaves were stringey and hard to chew, Steamed SanYu Fish Slices were plump and wellcooked, Spicy Beancurd was surprisingly very flavourful. The Ginger Rice with extra ginger is always a delight. Overall service was slow but an amicable auntie made sure our tea was always topped up, which made our day. A good place for good food. Maybe on a weekday instead.More

My partner and I were looking forward to eating at this place because it served sweet potato leaves (Fan Su Ye). After a short wait to get a table, it took almost an hour to get our food. We enquired about our order numerous times...but the staff were vague and unapologetic. They seemed to be understaffed and those that were there were poorly trained and poorly organised. The food, when it finally arrived, was OK but it didn't offset the poor service and experience.More

Miss having all these traditional Chinese food of long past which is found in this restaurant made in the most authentic manner. Everything that we ordered tasted great and I love the ginger sauce especially and which they sold in bottles. We bought 6! Service...was prompt and food arrived fast. Price was reasonable. Recommended to come to this Chinese heritage restaurant which is available in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.More

We brought our overseas guests here as they preferred Chinese food. All the dishes we selected were to our guests' liking. We selected half a Samsui Ginger Chicken (which is understandably their specialty dish). Their portion was more than adequate for 6 adults. Somehow, the...moist and juicy chicken pieces pair so well with their ginger sauce, with a piece of crispy, crunchy lettuce to wrap up these pockets of tasty goodness. We also ordered their Double-boiled American Ginseng with Baby Abalone Soup (with Pork Ribs) which came with a whole baby abalone in individual bowl servings. The soup was also well prepared, in testimony to the name of this chain of restaurants = Soup Restaurant. Next was their generous portion of tender Steamed Red Grouper fish slices with spring onion and ginger. We also enjoyed our dish of spinach, together with salted as well as century egg. This combination makes for a tasty vegetable dish. All these medium sized dishes were good accompaniment to bowls of fluffy white rice. Their barley drink with good portions of barley (in hot or cold) was refreshing. The bill came to around SGD120, for 6 of us. This is rather reasonable for good quality, satisfying Chinese food in a cosy and comfortable restaurant ambience. We saw many local families, colleagues and even overseas guests at this restaurant. Recommended for decently priced rustic heritage Chinese cuisine in this area.More
