We have been visiting this restaurant numerous times over the years. We a pax of 5 visited again for Sat dinner. We ordered 4 pax of BBQ buffet & 1 pax of vegetarian option. I am grateful the restaurant owner was kind allowing me ordering...ala carte vegetarian menu while seated next to the buffet diner (generally to avoid people from taking advantage of free flow dishes). My friends have enjoyed the free flow (various cooking version) of BBQ Meat that was cooked in the kitchen. It was definately worth value of money if you are a meat lover. However i am pretty disappointed with my vegetarian ala carte menu - zuchini pancake & tofu kimchi soup. The pancake was pretty average & i regretted not ordering kimchi pancake. The biggest missed was the tofu kimchi soup as it tasted different than the version i had tried before. The soup was served pipping hot but it had a burnt taste & the egg in the soup was overcooked :( I asked the resraurant owner whether the soup was burnt with lot of black bit floating on top. He said no as those were pepper. Although the soup was edible, it was not much better than a korean stall at a hawker center in term of taste & quality. What had happen to my soup ?!! Needless to say we had 4 happy customers but definately not me.. I was FULL but totally not satisfied & the worse feeling i woke up with a slight sore throat on Sunday. We had an enjoyable meal at Jang Wong Korean Restaurant but it was nothing out of the box. The food was tasty, but the level of English was minimal to none and the table service left a bit to be desired. We had finished our...meal for at least 10 minutes and they did not come near us and it wasn't particularly busy and there were several staff there. Ok for a quick and easy meal.More

Been coming to this Korean restaurant for years (and also tried others). Our usual favourites: soon do-bu (so flavorful), chap chae, dak kalbi . Yummy. Run by a Korean family. Food is authentic (I used to live in Seoul). Near Chinatown MRT (on downtown line)...or 4 bus stops from Bras Basah.More

My colleague and I visited this restaurant last week and surprisingly it was beyond expectation in terms of price and dishes. We paid 15 Sgd each I ordered Bihimba with 1 dollar add on for Chijimi pancake. It came with free 8 different small dishes...like Kimchi with a tea. I liked the setting and also the Korean people working in the restaurant too.More

Korean family runs the place, it tastes like Korea. food is plenty and overall of good quality (I enjoyed the Hae Jangguck, meat soup, very much). Only regret is that the grill is made on portable grill and not fix in the table one or...on real charcoal. good address at the doorstep of China TownMore

Popped in here for a quick dinner, was quite impressed with the food. I had pork fried with kimchi, very tasty and very big portion. The usual Korean side dishes (5) were all excellent except for the kimchi strangely! Not cheap, one beer, one dish...plus one bowl of steamed rice bill was S$50.More

This is my second visit to this restaurant for their lunch. What went well: - affordable set lunches - Wide variety of side dishes - quiet environment for a quality lunch session with friends - authentic Koreans running this restaurant= authentic Korean food What could...be improved: - I feel that they could go easier on their seasoning. We felt really thirsty after we had their soups. So maybe you could try to request if they can go easy on the seasoning? Overall, good place to visit if you want to have a chill out lunch session :)More

Had actually wanted to go to another popular Korean restaurant in the vicinity for lunch, but the queue was too long. Thought we would give this a try since there wasn't a lot of people inside and should be a quicker option for us on...our limited lunch break. Glad to see that although there wasn't a lot of people eating, there were still native Koreans having their meal which is a good sign. The restaurant had lunch combos and you could order main courses with side dishes. We ordered kimchi stew, ginseng chicken soup, steamed egg and stir-fried sliced beef. The food had a homely feel and tasted delicious! The little complimentary sides were good as well and we couldn't resist asking for refills. Would come back again to try out other dishes:)More

Let’s start from the side dishes.. they were very palatable with a homemade touch added. I love the ginseng chicken and the seafood pancake. Unlike other restaurants, I can taste the original taste of the ginseng without feeling thirsty... thanks to NO MSG added! A...must go-to for the locals and tourists to whet that Korean tastebuds!More

We visited Chinatown and were hungry and heading down Mosque Street to the MRT to go find food when we passed this small restaurant and were attracted by their Lunch Set (A+B in pictures and words). The staff were super-pleasant and attentive and the service...was prompt. We both had squid and rice as main (delicious, seriously) and a pork belly and a spicy crab as sides. Washed down with large Hite beers. The mains, truthfully, probably suited our Anglo tastes more than the sides, but in reality it was all genuinely tasty. As a first introduction to Korean food, we liked this a lot. Nice little tranquil haven catering to Eastern and Western tastes. I would go back.More

My partner and I frequent this restaurant regularly. It has possibly one of the best korean stews in town. Their pajoen platter is to die for - it tastes like what you'll get in good restaurants in Korea. Their banchan is decent, though they use...local cucumber and beansprouts, which does take away that Korean flavor. The seafood noodle is good, but I wouldn't recommend their DIY ramyeon. On the whole, a very nice wholesome restaurant if you want some hearty Korean fare. Parking is by the street - can be challenging. They claim to close at 10pm, but they actually stop service before 930pm.More

I am not a fan of Korean food but had cravings for hot, spicy kimchi ramen so I traveled to Chinatown in search of a Korean restaurant. I chanced upon Jang Won, attracted by their signage promoting 'Healthy Korean Food'. I was seated promptly by...the Korean owner. Business was brisk & the restaurant was filled to capacity but the interior was spacious & sufficiently cool to provide a comfortable dining experience. Best, there was no bbq smoke & oil smell permeating. The menu has a good selection of creative soups/hot pot, stews e.g. Chamchi kimchi-jjigae (tuna kimchi stew), Spicy Fish Roe soup, Noodles with grinded bean soup as well as the usual Korean BBQ meats & staples. I ordered Chamchi kimchi-jjigae & requested to add ramen. This is a spicy stew made with tuna, ripened kimchi, pork & tofu. The broth was bubbling hot, had the right amount of spice, tang & richness! Rice & complimentary appetizers were served. As the portioning was small, I ordered another Kimchi-jjigae stew (ripened kimchi, pork & tofu) subsequently. Between the two, I preferred the former. Being a busy night, service was lacking. I had to call for service a couple of times to top up my water & clear the table. Overall, I would rate the food as above average & shall return to try their ginseng chicken soup.More
