First they gave me 2 idlis. As per my estimation they shoukd have made idly around midnight.Outside of idly is dried. Sambar ok. But both chutneys are worse. Then Dosai is ok with same sambar and chutneys. when I was eating I thought the quality...is ok because Small restaurant. But when the saw the bill, I was shocked. Dosai $3.20 and for Couple of Idly $3.20. Total $6.40 Typical restaurant with same quality will cost around $4 only at other places.More
We ordered rava dosa and curd vada. Tomato chutney provided with the dosa not nice, may be they did not cooked well before grinding. Curd vada, they just poured curd & green chilli on the vada, no boondi or corainder leaves on it. In the...typical south indian restaurant, they will put boondi & coriander leaves on top as a garnish.More
In our 9 years in Singapore , this is one of our favourite places to eat in the east . It’s a no frills restaurants so don’t expect anything fancy , but it’s places like these that serve delicious fare ! Our favourite is the...ghee roast masala dosa and paneer bhurji which is so flavourful ! We love coming here with our kids on the weekends . Staff are friendly as well .More
I come here very often. Like every alternate week or whenever we visit the nearby temple. Recently, the food quality has gone bad. Thought it was some setback with chefs. Today, I ordered Rava masala dosa and it came like this (see photo). Never seen...a masala dosa where masala and dosa are served separately. what’s the point of serving a masala dosa then, I wonder. According to chef, apparently, this is how Masala dosa is served in Orissa! Really? Even if it so, I don’t understand why “Udipi” ganesh vilas is serving Oriya masala dosa! Beats me. Plus The amount of salt in chutneys can get you to choke. Anyway, looks like there is a new management that neither cares for the food quality nor customer service.More
Absolute disaster in service.....u lose u r appetite....run by kids with no understanding of hotel management...food quality...is of bare minimum...standards.. I guess they r surviving because its the only dosa joint...nearby...
We were in singapore recently and ganesh vilas our preffered choice for dinner.the place is a blessing for vegetarians. Ghee roast sada dosa onion utappa and bisebelle was nice.idly was okayish.rice plate for 7.5 sgd was very tasty and affordable.guests staying in katong area hotels...can look forward to good veg food in this hotel.More
Have been a regular at Udipi Ganesh Vilas since the last 7 years, have had an consistently good experience even with change of management. The restaurant has a very cozy feel and they serve budget friendly simple and delicious vegetarian food from all over India,...though the South Indian food is the best. Recommend the Mysore Ghee Dosa/Thosai, its really crispy and savoury along with delicious coconut base chutneys and really tasty sambar. The meals / thalis are good too if you're hungry. Ignore the bad reviews - they sound like the reviewer has visited only once or twice. I did have one off issues - which is normal for any place, but the service and quality has been consistently good otherwise. Cut them some slack!! They are hard working folks and like to ensure a good experience for everyone, like someone rightfully said, the cool dude at the counter with funky specs (Sajid) is always multi tasking. The staff are always polite and sport a smile. Oh, and the bollywood music takes you back few decades :-) Overall, it's a gem in the east coast - hard to find such good quality food which is budget friendly and homely. Beats a lot of Indian restaurants in Singapore which try to be too fancy and artificial.More
Great place to repeat your breakfast, lunch or a snack. No excess oil and freshly made indian food which you can trust. I have been here at least 50 times and never got it wrong. The only thing you need to be careful is the...coconut chutney which sometimes get a stale flavor as they seem to be preserving coconut chutney over night in their freezer. You get the best chutneys when they are ground and made fresh!More

Best place to have home style south indian vegetarian cuisine. Great service at best price. We always eat here with family. On weekends they have special breakfast. One can even order via Grab etc.
Perfect Food, staff, location and price! That's sums up the whole experience. Our entire family loves this restaurant right next to Hindu Temple. It's hard to find authentic south Indian vegetarian food in a country like Singapore. Staff works very hardaand still serves all customers...with a smile. Good job guys. Special recommendations for the lanky Tamilian young lad with specs at the cashiers counter. He literally serves food, picks utensils, manages cash, takes orders and passes orders to the Chef... Wow. Visited this place during lunch time . A decent family restaurant with good food. We ordered Mysore masala dosa,plain dosa , chai and Aloo paratha . The South Indian dishes and chai was good but the paratha was not good.
It really is very good vegetarian Indian food and priced well. The decor is simple but that is reflective in the price. No alcohol served.
Visited after many months, the management has changed, the prices have all been revised up substantially. Lot of "ready to cook" packet food now being served. Other food quality was average. Can see small cockroaches n insects around. No longer the budget restaurant in the...neighbourhood - charges now like other restaurants.More
After a visit to Shri Vighnaharta temple today decided to have breakfast here. Neat and clean setting. Ordered a masala dosa and an idly set with a cup of masala tea and coffee. All served piping hot. Dosa was crispy and idly soft. Tea and...coffee served in mugs, good quantity. Found quantity and quality very satisfying. And our bill less than SGD 10. RecommendedMore
