The ribs are so small, but think it’s inflation, but don’t cut down on the ribs, usual 5 inch ribs are now chopped to 2 inches, four to five pieces, in other words, it’s not even 2 ribs! You will kill your business, just a...feed back. Increase the price and maintain the portion, its the smallest portion I ever had for a normal bowl of Bak kut teh. Guess inflation is hitting every business… sad and hope they will look into this.More

Overall, the food taste is okay. Comfortable ambience. The youtiao is nicely cooked! However, I felt that the meat is tough, soup too peppery and the price is slightly above the average.

The restaurant has been around for more than 40 years and is a well-known favorite for both local and overseas artists and famous individuals. The deco is simple with photographs of the owner and his esteemed guests lining the walls. The traditional dishes are good...and service is prompt. Prior to the circuit breaker, one has to wait for at least half an hour in order to get a seat but we can now easily get a table during non peak hours.More

I went to the one in Bugis, Easy parking (at 12 noon) at the side road not too crowded. The pig trotters will melt in the mouth with a good amount of fat and lean meat. The Bak Koot were pretty huge and nice to...chew, a little tough but ok for me. The soup was a bit peppery but not too oily...healthy i would think. As i was going out, I saw the Charcoal Flavoured Yu Tiao .. must come back again to try it.More

My go to place for Bak Kut Teh, but was here recently on a weekday for dinner after the circuit breaker, not much of a crowd which is surprising because you normally have a queue outside waiting, now I know why. The soup is so...plain, not robust and aromatic at all. The meat of the pork trotters is so dry and hard, which should not be the case because of the fat and collagen. The mixed innards I ordered only had I piece of kidney, compare to the stomach and intestines. They better buck up if they want to hold on to this business, there are many other places out there better.More

Bak Kut Teh is a traditional chinese dish, best enjoyed as a breakfast dish. It consists of pork ribs in a herbal tea soup that has a lot of herbs in it, plus a good measure of pepper. The establishment serves some side dishes too...- I recommend the "yu cha kway" and fermented salted vegetable. Both are cheap and add to the overall meal experience. The pork rib is best experienced when dipped into a sticky black soy sauce; the locals will add in spicy chilly to give it a kick but do be careful; the chilli species used packs a vicious kick. Be forewarned! If you have never tried this dish before, you really should. If you have, then you know what I am talking about and need no further urging. Go early to get a seat - there's always a long queue.More

Soup is nice, and the meat is tender. If you like strong pepper flavour, you will love it. You can add fresh chopped chili, if you like it spicy.

This is the place if you like your soup peppery. Had the usual suspects, pig trotters, tau kee, you tiao, bak teh and pig innards. All were good except the pig innards, not done well enough, was still rubbery. Service is good, top up your...soup without asking. What I particularly like about this place is they have two kinds of cut chilli, birds eyes and the normal one for those who still want to have chilli but cannot take the spicy level and you can help yourself to unlimited amount of chilli.More

The quality of food is bad as compared to last time. Soup served is not hot enough and it gets very peppery at the bottom of the soup.

The soup of the bak kut teh itself is super peppery you can feel it go down your throat and into your stomach. Super tasty and rich too! Albeit the not-as-tender-as-I'd-hoped meat of the the pork ribs, the standard of the food is well above...its price range. We ordered the toufu skin, hard boiled eggs, pig stomach soup and the famous Founder bak kut teh pork ribs with rice. The portion they gave for the pig stomach soup was a heap loads. Service was pretty quick too! Although one thing I didn't really like was the fact that the waitresses could only speak Mandarin (not English) but hey if you wanna practise your Mandarin skills, this is the place to be. I would most definitely come back here.More

It’s been a long time since I last visited this restaurant. The history of the restaurant goes a long way, more than 20 years at least. The broth was excellent as like the olden days. It’s the peppery version but still packed with flavors. However,...as I ordered the short rib version, I wished the meat was more tender and soft. Other than that, all was good and prices were pretty alright.More
